Junta Approves 100 Billion Fund to Build Rails, Roads

Featured Replies

"infrastructure fund worth 100 billion baht that will be open for public investment."

I'll pass on this investment. What will they do if everyone else passes also?

You know what W.C. Fields said. The PM better hope this is true in spades. I would not touch this with a 10 foot pole. Forget about trains and roads to nowhere fix up the present ailing infrastructure. Clean up the garbage piles, deal with the drought build more sewage plants. Build green electric producing facilities not more coal plants. Its the same old game build more means of bringing more tourists here.

Great picture! Nice plane, train, skytrain and a very very old citybus....when will the new buses from China finally arrive?

Gets difficult to follow things/happenings as so many appear to change every week, did the new Buses not get cancelled ? or put on hold ?

I will join the masses and take a rain-check on the investment opportunity......

at least until the government have been able to stamp out the corruption

and i have a sneaky feeling that is not going to happen before 2022

How many palm trees can one buy with 100 billions? whistling.gif

We need some palm trees around the rail road.. for the scenery, you see....

What ever they do, just don't sell Thailand to the Chinese please!

I think you're a bit late sir, it's already a bought and paid up colony of the Inscrutables.

Way past time they stopped talking about how much money they are going to spend and actually DID SOMETHING. I've lost count of the amount of 'announcements' about multi-billion Baht projects and budgets and haven't yet counted one sod of earth being turned !

after all the brown bags are filled and handed out, how much money will be left.

will they start a project and then stop half way through as they do with so many other projects because they ran out of money!

some people will have a happy new year.

TBH, if they were going to steal the country from the people, the least that they could have done something for the economy a year and a half ago...

Oh but they did. You may have missed this, but they got all protesters to clean up and go home.

If Thailand is to have elections soon, why not wait until the newly appointed government comes in to decide how the money is spent?

Scrap that.

So they should not decide anything the next 2 years?

One of the most expensive pies ever baked in Thailand.....Or a New Years Gift to Contruction Companies and Orbutors.....

Can you just imagine the 3rd party dispersments from projects of this size / nature....

Just watched Prayuts Friday speech on this on tv. He seemed to rattle off every infrastructure project currently running or in the pipeline. It crossed my mind that there was too many projects and thus some of them are bound to go astray. I mean it just sounds far to ambitious. Thus I would not invest; sounds way too risky.

The chinese have already invested in the rail network. Since they couldn't buy better friendship with submarines or elite tourist titles I guess the money has to go through infrastructure development projects.

wow, the generals are being awfully generous with other people's money, wonder why???

For example, the business sector has reported that “commissions” for government projects has risen to 30 or 50 per cent of the total project value.

Guess that "what comes around, goes around"... coffee1.gif

If, and I don't accept your claim for a moment, they allocate B500 billion and steal half, we will still have B250 billion of infrastructure to show for it. Isn't that a better result than the rice scam?

What will you do when wealthy Thais don't pass? Moan that all the profits go to the "elite'?

And if some of that money goes to repairing of the existing roads I hope that they won't be spent on fixing the already good roads but on the really damaged roads and sois.

I've seen many times when there were spending time and money on the resurfacing of really good roads.

This is currently happening in phayathai, a lot of good roads are being resurfaced for some strange reason when they're are roads in much worse condition everywhere that are being ignored
