Register Marriage at Laksi or BangKapi district office

Sorry if this somewhere else. I'm confused I have been told by Thais go to Bang Rak district office that's the only place that registers marriages between foreigners and Thais. But I know foreigners who have married at Laksi and Bangkapi. Has the law changed?

And does anyone have experience of Laksi or Bang Kapi office?

Thanks

Any of the offices can perform the marriage AFAIK - I was married in Lat Phao office and would have been done in Bangkapi if paperwork had been in order. But Bang Rak is preferred by Thai because of the good luck in name and the location is central for most foreigners so they are experienced and no outside witness or translators will be required.

Any district office can do it. Bangrak is much likely to be busier than offices more out of town. In my opinion its probably one of the worst choices you could make.

Actually it is probably the best place to have it done if you do not have reasons (living there) to do elsewhere. They are a very busy and experienced office so all is routine for them. When I was trying to do and did not know what was required they were willing and able to explain - unlike several other offices. Although I did not use them for registration would recommend them. But probably not on Valentines Day.

Never heard of any such request - there must always be witness sign but it can be anyone. If this has changed very surprised that nobody has posted about it as it would be a major change. We are not talking about a minor?

Called them today again. And as we in Thailand got another girl :) this time it can be anyone any cousin or something. Means everyone who you bring you just say its your cousin. Doesnt need to be same family name and so on. Quite funny how it changes day from day. Will report next week when everything is done.

we got married in Laksi recently and there is not fuss here.

Officials were polite and know what they were doing.

Was easy and done in about 20 mins with the nicely printed certificate and holder....we were the first ones there at 8.30am when they opened and was done in time head to IKEA for shopping by 10am including travelling time :-)
