Thousands of US prisoners freed early because of computer glitch

More than 3,000 prisoners have been released early in Washington because of a computer glitch.

Sentence reductions for good behaviour were miscalculated, with inmates being released 49 days early, on average.

The 13-year problem has now been corrected.

13 year problem has just now been fixed?

Why did the photographer take a photo of only African-American prisoners?

How racist.

That's a ridiculous statement. Far right appears Hispanic, 2nd from right is white,1st on left is unseen and 2nd on left unidentifiable. There is one out of 5 who is clearly black in my opinion.

Carry on race baiting now.

Really?

You can see all that?

I thought they all looked dark-skinned.

Thanks for clarifying.

So why did the photographer take a photo where atleast 80% of the prisoners are minorities?

I find that offensive.

Good one.. Maybe they'll use that as an excuse for WWIII.

.... a computer glitch...

Well, when is someone going to take responsibility for the glitch and serve some hard time?

The computer didn't glitch itself.

I'm sick of corruption and the disgusting "leaders".

It is the State of Washington and they were going to be released anyway so can you imagine the savings to the Washington State taxpayers that 49 days, on average, times 3,000 prisoners equals, and by the way since Euro News just likes to pick and choose headlines the figure is the total since 2002

OLYMPIA — For three years, state Department of Corrections staff knew a software-coding error was miscalculating prison sentences and allowing inmates to be released early. On Tuesday, Gov. Jay Inslee gave the damning tally: up to 3,200 prisoners set free too soon since 2002.

As the first poster said, slow news week

Are you serious? It's well known that minorities are disproportionately represented in jails in most, if not all countries with diverse populations. It would probably be impossible to take a photo of mainly white prisoners in a random photo in an American jail.
