Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai - which future?

The red is built on the surface, black elevated and yellow tunnel.

Could you take a close up of the section from CM east through the first tunnel & then north? Post as big a pic as you can, please.

That's about 16km of tunnel to get out of Chiang Mai. I just can't believe it will ever happen.

16 km of tunnel with a mix of scooters, cars, pickups, trucks and semi-trailers using it? A recipe for chaos if ever I saw one.

Oh wait, the cyclists will want to claim their road rights too....cheesy.gif

And when they insist on riding two abreast, slowing down other traffic, that's OK too.

A little bit of common sense, such as riding single file when they know faster traffic is behind them, would go a long way.
