Adding on insurance?

Featured Replies

I have 2 old cars.

I paid basic insurance where you check your car / pay your car tax place.

Can I buy an add on insurance to this basic insurance?

Upping it one level?

Not sure what you mean by upping it one level. The insurance you bought is compulsory and only covers injury to other people I believe, no property insurance. if you want to cover your car or damage to another vehicle you'd need to see an insurance broker.

yes you can....

The "gov't insurance" is pretty basic and doesn't offer much cover for third paryt injury or property damage....

You can take out "third class cover" - which is called "third party only cover" where i'm from - this cover increases the level of third party injury and property damage cover, over and above the Government policy...

You'll need to check the limits though, as different insurers offer different limits....

quite often the insurance sellers at the goverment transport / licence centre can sell you this cover in addition to the government insurance they sell and hand you over the policies there and then....

My family has 2 cars with exactly what's described above, no difficulty whatever to get it.

This is a good one from Kasikorn Bank:

That is expensive for the cover they are offering

You can get a cheaper 3.class insurance, but the two most interesting "add on's" to this one are:

1) They cover damage to your car (if the accident is your fault). Even with an old car, it can easily cost 20,000 - 30,000 Baht, to get your car repaired.

2) The "Bodily injury ......" covers 1 million per person. Other companies 3.class insurance only cover 300,000 Baht per person. *)

*) If you have followed news (and post's here in TV); you will know that families of injured and especially dead are greedy.

Settlements are usually around 1 million Baht, so if your insurance company only covers 300,000 Baht, you have to pay the rest.

6,800 Baht per year is 18.63 Baht a day. I think it's OK!?.

If you have an insurance that covers the same but cheaper; I like to hear about it.

The insurance you have is basic.

You can buy as add on:

good thirs party insurance;

second class insurance;

1st class insurance.

How old are the cars?

Not sure.

94 i think for the L300 I tried with at Kasikorn.

Not interested in insuring the car as such.

Want to be protected for claims from other parties.

Economical protection for myself and passengers of mine if hospital bills comes into play.

That's also what I think.

Did you ask Kasikorn, if you could get the Car Protect 3 (without the +)?

Else try Viriyah Insurance.

In Kasikorn language they have "levels" 1 to 5

5 being the one discussed earlier in this thread.

I will try again.

Good luck!

And; it's also a good "insurance" to get a CarCam.

You don't want to be blamed for an accident, that was not your fault.
