January 8, 201610 yr Hi all, I have a heavy, old Maytag washer that needs to be hauled away from my 2nd storey balcony in the Old City. I have twice assembled 2-3 men with a truck to dispatch it to "appliance heaven." Twice, I've been turned down: "too heavy, too difficult" were the reasons cited in refusing the job. Money was not the issue. I've also contacted Home Pro and Big C to inquire about removal, and that was a no-go. Any suggestions from the old timers? Thanks!
January 9, 201610 yr You might try disassembling the washer. Many old models used a heavy weight, encapsulated concrete block, to keep them stable during spin cycle. removing a few screws and panels should help with locating weighty parts including the motor which will then be sought after by a 2nd hand dealer.
January 9, 201610 yr Call Chiang Mai removals. they are very efficient. or.... If you buy a new machine, buy it on the understanding they will take away the old one.
