Thai immigration police,arrested a 47-year-old Australian man wanted in his home country for sending child pornography videos there through the mail.

Thai authorities have revoked his visa and were arranging his flight to send him back to Australia soon, although no further details were given.

Police in Australia issued the arrest warrant for Christopher Ronald White after Australian customs officials seized a package of VCDs sent through the mail and found White's fingerprints on it, said a news release from the Thai immigration police bureau.

White, from the western Australian city of Perth, had also been arrested in August 2005 in northern Chiang Mai province for allegedly taking a 12-year-old Thai girl into his care and molesting her repeatedly over a span of four years.

The girl returned to her family last August and told them that White had raped her and also forced her to have sex with his friends. However, prosecutors were unable to bring him to court because there was not enough evidence, immigration police said in the news release.

White has been living in Thailand for more than five years, Chiang Mai police said. He is a bomb expert who regularly gave lectures at several learning institutes in Thailand.

White said he had been “set up” by people wanting to destroy him because he tried to expose the child-sex trade, including the alleged involvement of well-connected Westerners and he would call witnesses to support his claims.

He expected to face charges related to two pornographic videos he allegedly mailed to Perth in 2005, including one showing child sex. If so, he would be defend the charges vigorously in court in Perth.

He is expected back to Perth today.

Christopher Ronald White was seized at his apartment in Bangkok on Oct 12 and would be deported to Australia soon, immigration police officer Colonel Bandit Tungkaseranee said.

White was wanted in his home country after Australian police found his fingerprints on child pornography mailed from Thailand.

Last year he was arrested in Thailand's northern tourist town Chiang Mai on paedophile charges, but prosecutors dropped the case due to insufficient evidence.

THAI authorities will deport a former West Australian policeman accused of posting a haul of discs containing child pornography to Australia.

Perth police issued an arrest warrant for Christopher Ronald White, 47, after Australian customs officials seized the haul and found White's fingerprints on the package, Thai immigration police said.

White's visa, which had allowed him to live in Thailand for several years, had been revoked and immigration officers expected to deport him within a few days, they said.

Thai authorities said White was known to police. He was arrested in August last year over allegations he had kept a local underage girl as a sex slave for four years.

Following a lengthy police investigation, Thai prosecutors said officers had failed to provide them with proof that White had had a sexual relationship with the girl.

They ruled the case could not proceed to court due to a lack of evidence. White consistently denied the girl's allegations.

He now faces prosecution in Western Australia over the haul of child pornography, which allegedly includes images of a European man engaged with sex acts with young Asian girls.

Glad they got the finger-print evidence on White this time.

Donz, I don't think he'll be treated with too much kindness in an Australian jail. Apparently paedophiles are so hated by other prisoners that they have to be kept in "safe" separate accommodation: at least that is the theory. The reality may be quite different.

And his imprisonment still does not help the Thai girl whose childhood was wrecked by this monster.
