Chinese Tourists 'forced' into buying by angry beach vendors on Pattaya Island

The reason why Chinese tourist don't buy souvenirs in Thailand is, that 99,9999% of those souvenirs were made in China and available in China for only 1% of the price asked for in Thailand.

Chinese buy lots of products here. There are many shops in Pattaya dedicated to selling to Chinese tourists. Pork floss is real popular. Personally, I prefer dental floss.

More than likely they angered the vendor by inspecting his entire stock, over a prolonged period, then did not buy anything.

If you are a vendor this part and parcel of your job description. You are not expected to purchase something every time you look into a shop window or peruse through a shops merchandise or even try it on.

These guys are more suited to becoming Tuk Tuk drivers where intimidation is the name of the game.

Tawaen Beach, that well known deserted strip of sand, where two Chinese were confronted by two extremely dangerous Thai souvenir sellers. They must have been terrified.

Being such a lonely place there would have been no one filming the exchange, and no bars around to retreat to. What a load of ****.

First of all who takes such a large amount of foreign currency to an island ? Then if they were confronted like that, in broad daylight, why did they wait until they got back " late at night ".

Sounds like they bought some genuine plastic souvenirs, then thought better of it. That's the Chinese way.

I'm sick and tired of reading stories on how tourists are being bullied, threatened, mugged, snatched or beaten to a pulp outside a Walking Street bar by bouncers or beaten up by Beach rd ladyboys!

Are they just weak with no balls or Thai men are just superior fighters with courage? which?

Please don't tell me actually this trick works?!? What an idea! Throw things at customer and threat them to harm, deal closed.

I wonder if the same sales strategy can be used with a 3,400lbs used car on a crane operated by a used car salesman ... cheesy.gif

Oh great. Someone who believes everything he reads and makes a judgement on it and puts it on the whole country for good measure. Pathetic

You may be right about the pre-judgement, but fact is that it appeared in the media; true or not true.
