northernjohn
Does any one know how long they were held and how much the fines were? I know they didn't get many but curious about the ones they did get.
onetime
You mean after they have been ransacked?
AlphMichaels
Great question. Sure it came down to social economic status and THB.
gemguy
For sure there was some "money on the side" deals done so the real penalties were made more lenient. I would not doubt if a car or 2 went missing and could not be found immediately. Are they still enforcing the laws with the same amount of vigor or has their enthusiasm wavered because the roads here in Thailand are still full of drinkers driving around drunk ..as we speak. stevenl
Check the Thailand news section. All have been returned, nothing about ransacking.
Tomtomtom69
They might want to do something about all the Chinese drivers here during the Chinese New Year. Counted a record 33 Chinese registered cars yesterday, some of them driving in convoys of 3 cars between Den Chai and Singburi. Some very very bad drivers amongst them, cutting off trucks when moving from the fast lane across 4 lanes of traffic to the side of the road. Far worse than most Thai drivers. Anyway, read an article dated 12 Feb that the Land Transport Department intends on introducing a new law targeting foreign registered vehicles soon, which would require them to petition the department for permission to bring vehicles in for the purposes of tourism, itineraries need to be submitted etc. sounds like what the Vietnamese and Chinese governments have been doing for years.
