phone cards to uk and ireland

Featured Replies

For the last few years I have used a sawasdee phone card to make calls back to uk and ireland. For 100 bht I could get over 1 hours call.I could buy this card from many retail outlets but recently I cannot find any places that sell them.

Do any wise people on this forum know where I can buy a sawasdee card or something similar? It is expensive to just phone direct.I use Skype but sometimes I call my elderly mum who does not have a computer or smart phone.

Why don't you use skype to call her phone? I do this for free as Skype has a special promotion where you can call around the world (to landlines or mobiles) for free for one month. Its called skype unlimited. You have to unsubscribe before the end of the month or you will be charged.

Every month I set up a new user name and account and I get the same package for free. You have to give your credit card details but they don't charge anything if you unsubscribe. I have quite a lot of debit and credit cards so I just use a different one every month. Its not very ethical but I'm sure Skype will survive!

If you need any help please ask...Good luck...

Not a recommendation just a finding:

EasyCard

"Slips" (basically just a print ot a PIN) seems available at many shops.

Family Mart one of them.

Really cheap, 0.52 / 0.62 Baht/min to UK.

BUT: you have to pay the local call rate to the Bangkok access number additionally.

Anyway: 1h for 100 Baht should be achievable.

Thanks for the replies.Last night I got a Thookdee card from 7 11 for 100 bht.Gives me about 75 mins to Ireland which is ok.

Skype World is $13.99 a month and gives crystal clear calls to landlines in the UK. Well worth the money. It will also work from the Skype app on smartphones.

Ps: I use it to call my mum on her landline she loves it.

You can also call mobiles and landlines in Thailand.
