Transport Min follows up on infrastructure projects in South

BANGKOK, 1 February 2015 (NNT) – The Ministry of Transport has inspected the progress of infrastructure projects in southern provinces of Thailand.

Deputy Minister for Transport Omsin Chiwaphruek, recently visited three southern provinces namely Phuket, Phang Nga, and Krabi to follow up on the progress of infrastructure development projects including road construction.

On his arrival, Mr Omsin was greeted by governors and vice governors of the three provinces and other high-ranking officials.

The deputy minister then traveled to Phuket Airport to observe the airport’s renovation project which is expected to be finished soon. Mr Omsin was also informed that the airport will be fully open by May 2016.

In addition, he said the government is adamant about launching a light rail project, hoping to reduce traffic congestion as well as improving Phuket’s transportation system.
