Clutch specialist garage in CM?

Hi

I live in CM

My favoured mechanic up in CR (I visit often) sounds overloaded.

Went to a CM local (messy) shop where I like the guy but he first said 3 days for clutch and cam belt replacement and i had to squeeze him down to two. He did the clutch a few year ago and they didn't adjust the cable (yes cable) properly meant going back in no big deal but a sign it wan't test run right....not the first time.

Well being without a car is very difficult for me and I would like the quickest possible job done.

Wondering if there's a specialist clutch place in CM.

They have these back home and are so used to doing clutches they make a much quicker job of it.....I think a clutch on a rear wheel drive can be half a day job done.

Better still I'm wondering if the overdue cam belt can be done by a mechanic No.2 same time as the clutch.......ie I can drive home to the country same night job done. I'm slightly reticent about getting the (very important) cam belt done at the mechanic above.

Any suggestions of the right place to go?

I shall ask price and time at Suzuki dealer on my way in today but it's a 16yo vehicle and I try to economise now.

ps west side of town favoured though I realise not so many auto shops that way all areas of interest.

Speak to Ton at ProAuto 089 103 6280. Excellent English spoken and qualified mechanics on hand.

+ 1 for Pro Auto......But - for gawds sake give the people ample time to do a proper service to your vehicle.....

The clutch shops in the west are/were quick but usually they threw in the cheapest crap parts available.....

You have a rear wheel drive Suzuki → probably a 4x4.....Half day about right if straight work ..... Cam belt/chain could be more than a half day....Possibly both can be slammed in one day - but do you really want someone slamming parts in the name of speed versus removing-inspecting related components & systems (prevention) and reassembling for completion? Speed at all cost usually ends up costing more in later repairs....

You went to CR from CM and demanded quick repairs? Now they tell you 3 days? What is that telling you?

CM is easy to get around in - Ton picks up you/car for 7k's.....If you go to his shop you won't see a bunch of cars in pieces laying about → they address and complete their work....But to do good comprehensive inspections/work/repairs takes a certain amount of time to complete.....You almost sound too demanding to be a long time valued customer.....

Last time in I had a crank seal/oil pan seal/sway bar bushings front & rear/4 shocks replaced/ + servicing = took 3 days....

Ton stayed in touch on Line with pics of the needs and each job when completed with update dialog.....Right down to pics of the invoice....

It's not a slow or lazy shop - but you have to allow them their time → you are not the only one needing work & you (me/we/us/farang) are no more important or "special" than the next guy....In a lot of ways less so as others might have income relying on their vehicle....

We run a busy house with 2 girls in school running a house for 4 & and managed it......

Give 'em the time they require.....

BTW after 250k km the driver's seat has got a bit of sag on left side.

(It's an ideal car I've decided to renovate as necessary rather than buy something else).

The fabric amazingly stills seems to have held it's integrity so may not have to replace which I'm sure we couldn't get a match.

Recommendations for this work......or maybe go through Pro Auto possibly they could have an upholsterer come in and whip the seat out while the other works being done. Be happy to give them a cut for organising.

No sadly I can't swap the (perfect) passenger seat to the driver side while the one seat get's done...it doesn't work.

On reflection I have to go to BKK sometime praps that's when to get it all done.

Windscreen change I shall go to Dang Som Pratu as I know the boss and good well priced work.

Aircon magnetic clutch change I shall go to Boonsong in CR also know the boss a bit now and highly recommend.

That will only leave some bodywork I have a decent place on the Ping River road north of town but would prefer somewhere the Hang Dong/Saraphi direction or central.

Thanks to all for the recommendation Ton was indeed personable and seemed capable and has listed stuff and will quote by email or Line.

They can in fact get everything done if I wish though bodywork and upholstery goes to Doi Saket.

After inspection the tyres are a wee bit cracked and those would be 8400 for a 4 set of Deestone (medium quality) when the time comes. Sound good?
