USA -- In the US, results are already in from the first ballot of the New Hampshire presidential primary.

With a population of only 12, there were many more journalists than people present when polls opened at midnight in the tiny New Hampshire community of Dixville Notch.

Voting also took place in the nearby communities of Hart’s Location and Millsfield.

After Iowa last week, the small state of New Hampshire is the second to vote.

Many see the votes as an indicator of who will go on to larger victories in the presidential race.

The pint-sized poll gets particular attention as it is seen as an indicator of who will go on to be the eventual Democrat and Republican presidential nominees.

President-to-be Barack Obama won here in 2008 while presidential rival John McCain won for the Republicans.

Obama won again in 2012 but the Republican vote was split between Mitt Romney and former Governor of Utah, Jon Huntsman.
