Dear American Citizens,

For the past few years the American Embassy has relied on a third-party service provider to maintain its e-mail list of persons who wished to receive e-mail bulletins regarding the security situation in Thailand, consular outreach trips, and voting and tax information. If you receive this e-mail today, you are subscribed to that list. Recent upgrades to the computer system in the American Citizen Services Unit will now allow us to send these messages through the Embassy’s messaging system, without relying on a third-party service provider. As a result of these changes, the Embassy will soon cancel its contract with the third-party service provider.

If you wish to continue to receive e-mail notifications from the Embassy in the future, you must register with the Department of State’s centralized Internet Based Registration System (IBRS). This registration is done on-line. This registration system is good for both short-term travelers and long-term residents overseas. Additionally, long-term residents and/or frequent travelers use IBRS to update their contact information whenever needed. The Embassy will rely on the information in IBRS during an emergency, so we strongly urge all Americans in Thailand to register their presence in Thailand and to provide emergency contact information the Embassy can use to contact a loved one should the need arise. You can register your trip/presence in Thailand by visiting the IBRS web site at: https://travelregistration.state.gov/ibrs/

Many of you may have already registered through the IBRS system. If you received double copies of recent e-mail announcements (Public Announcements sent on Sep 25 and Oct 17, and Pattaya Outreach Trip Announcement sent on Oct 12) you are already registered through the IBRS system and you need not take any action. However, if you received only one copy of the three most recent announcements, you are not registered through IBRS (or at least you do not have a current e-mail address in the IBRS system), and you should do so immediately if you wish to continue to receive announcements in the future.

This is the last announcement to be sent through our third party provider. Register with IBRS now if you wish to receive e-mail announcements in the future!

For Pattaya Area Residents Only – This is a reminder that we will be providing consular services (passport renewal, extra visa pages, notarial services, etc) at the Dusit Resort on Beach Road (near the dolphin statue) in Pattaya this coming Friday, Oct 27, from 8:00 Am to 12:00 noon.

If you will be requesting extra visa pages during our visit, please send us an e-mail with your full name as it appears in your passport, your passport number, date and place of birth, and your social security number to [email protected]. Providing this information in advance will allow us to provide faster and more efficient service during our visit. During our last visit to Pattaya we provided consular services to over 150 people in 4 hours. We’d like to make the process as smooth as possible and your assistance is appreciated.

Sincerely,

American Citizen Services
