Heat gun

Featured Replies

I am not having much luck finding a heat gun for shrinking the heat-shrink tubing on some wiring harnesses. Anyone seen one around the usual places or even the unusual ones?

Lazada has them but all from outside Thailand and up to 4 weeks delivery, same as eBay.

I am in Pattaya BTW.

Thanks,

NL

Make that your set includes some of these heat gun nozzles:

SCG Home solutions.

Worth a try, not looked for them, but they have a lot of tools.

Down Sukhumvet heading to Sattahip, just past Honda car show room

on left, big white sign with red writing. SCG, same side wai2.gif

Yes the big Hardware House shop at the back... I was thinking that would be a good option... just not looking forward to the bloody weekend traffic on Sukhumvit!

it was a while ago but I purchased my heat gun from that hardware shop across the road from Foodland.

Are you interested in Thai language online order/shops? (someone help you order, order for you?)

You try your luck in one of the specialized shops selling paint as paint removal is a popular use.

This one then?:

I overlooked that it is about Pattaya.

Would really be surprised if there is no source for such a thing there.

Take a print/picture with you (see above links).

Such HW shops don't have everything on display.

So you have to ask.

HomePro & Global House in Sakon Nakhon both stock reputable brands.

Thanks for all the input, tips about paint shops and my usual DIY emporium at Santi. Hardware House did indeed have a couple but the cheapest was +1400 baht. They are to be found not beside the soldering irons, glue guns and heat shrink aisles (logical) but in the electric power drill displays! I guess they are shaped like a drill so they stick them in there? Chances are Homepro and others may well have them... I was just looking in the wrong places.

Hardware House does have heat shrink in various lengths and diameters but pretty much all black. There may also be some in Amorn in the Tukcom basement but don't count on it. Their Sriracha outlet defo has some.

I assume that is the yellow "Stanley" heat gun for around 950 baht? Does it come with any accessories like nozzle diffusers? The staff at HomePro next to Big C Extra were particularly invisible and/or obtuse yesterday so I deferred purchasing.

Last update and resolution. Santi had a couple but the cheapest one was 1650 baht. Same goes for the hardware store* at the corner of Lengkee and Third. Went to the new(est) HomePro on Suykhumvit and they had the "Stanley" (comes without accessories) and Black & Decker which was about 100 baht cheaper (no accessories either) so bought that one.

* That's the first time I have been inside that shop on Lengkee and Third and it looks like Santi on steroids! I am planning doing a proper, one-hour forage later this week after a Retox breakfast.

Santi on Roids sounds like a place I need to visit ASAP !!

Would love to unfortunately 7am to 6pm mon to fri are spent as a slave to the grind.

How much do you need to shrink? A lighter works for me. A foot or so once in a while.

If you want to shrink yards regularly then a heat gun is in order.

Yup, you guessed it, yards of wiring harnesses.

Then I will (hopefully) flog it for hah loy baht on the TV classifieds.

  • 1 month later...

The shop below Tukcom has them.
