Seven to ten days after Songkran. There is a bit of a lift during the European summer holidays though this has become less apparent these last few years. Resorts seem to be still doing quite well for the most part but they put very little into the local community / small business owners as the occupants often do not leave the place. Was in central Lamai last night to check on a friend who has an eye problem (much much better) and the area was devoid of people. Looks busy on the road but that is because most of the space on the road is taken up by parked taxis.

Same in Chaweng yesterday afternoon, barely any traffic and taxi's mostly parked up.

Weather was bad since 10 days. Now it is nice. So almost all tourists are at the beaches in the afternoons. Beaches and nice weather is why they are here. And so am I.

It is very obvious that most of the poster on this thread have had nothing to do with any business that depends on tourist, if the high season was for the ridiculously short time they think is the high season there would no business making any money that would be reasonable in the tourist section, the weather has a lot to do with it, most years the rain stops in late October and starts again late April, and the weather is cooler from November to April, high season is from October til May for tourist business, high season and low season has only to do with tourist. but many that have nothing to do with any tourist will tell you different.

That does not describe Samui's climate seasons at all.... way off the mark....blink.pngfacepalm.gif

It is very obvious that you have absolutely no clue about what's going on on the islands. The North Eastern monsoon rains start end of October and stop mostly end of November. Then less rain but still strong Eastern monsoon winds, which will eventually cease and move to the South in March. There is no cooler season on the islands in the South, it's hot or very hot. And every single business on Samui has to do with tourism, direct or indirect.
