Selling a house on "terms"

Featured Replies

Is the buyer a non-Thai? If he's Thai, run, don't walk, as borrowing from, or loaning money to a Thai as a foreigner is illegal. If he defaults, a judge may (will) rule in his favor and possibly award him the title.

Can you point us somewhere that backs up your assertion please?

Question: If I get a loan from SCB bank, are they breaking the law?

I wonder what would happen if the buyer was an important person or had connections. He could live there for 'ever'.

Good luck trying to evict him.

I have sold a house that way in the past. Push for a considerable deposit and make a deed contract.

Many samples available on the web. With such a contract you're covered in case the buyer doesn't live up to the contract. You keep the chanote until the contract is finished.

While I agree with the gist of what you're saying, it's very possible to draft (or copy and paste) an agreement that has clauses contrary to local laws. I'd make sure to get competent legal advice before proceeding.
