Hi,

Can anyone tell me if I would be eligible for a Business Visa by investing in the Thai stock exchange - the SET in order to attend Annual General Meetings of companies or investor presentations etc? If so is there a minimal amount of capital that is required to be eligible?

Cheers

The is no visa or extension of stay based solely on that reason.

A extension of stay based upon investing 10 million baht by purchasing a condo or 10 million baht in a Thai bank and/or government bonds or a combination of the two totaling 10 million baht is possible.

So how would a foreign investor attend a AGM for a company they invest in on the Thai Stock Exchange? Would it just be on a tourist visa as it's not exactly a recreational activity?

A shareholder does not need a business visa to attend a shareholders' meeting.

If you are a non-executive member of the board of directors of a company, but not en employee, I recommend that you get a business visa to attend a board meeting, although this is generally considered necessary only if you need to sign a document on the company's behalf during the meeting or at any time during your stay in Thailand.
