World considers a Trump presidency, and many shudder

The sitting Potus is also leader of his political party.

This is true of every Potus except George Washington who had no party affiliation (Washington was anyway a Federalist).

Truman in 1952 campaigned for the D successor nominee Gov. Stevenson (unsuccessful).

Eisenhower (unsuccessfully) campaigned in 1960 for his vp Richard Nixon.

Reagan made appearances in 1988 for his (successful) vp GHW Bush.

Bill Clinton did some campaigning in 2000 for his vp Al Gore.

Because of their unpopularity, Potus who did not campaign for the party's nominee included LBJ, Jimmy Carter (1984), GHW Bush (Bob Dole in 1996), GW Bush in 2008 re: Sen John McCain.

Potus is the leader of his own political party so Potus campaigns for the Democrats for Congress, governor offices and other offices throughout the country during mid-term elections.

The crucial determining factor whether a Potus or former Potus campaigns is his popularity. With President Obama's popularity as of this week at 51% he is going to be out campaigning for HRC -- after the convention. So will Bill be out there campaigning for her. So will HRC's choice of vp. So will President Obama. So will Sen. Bernie Sanders.

The rightwhingers and the entire Republican party fears all of this through and through. Absolutely. Completely. Entirely. Dreads it. Thoroughly.

Republicans are united and uniting now. Democrats will unite after the California primary two weeks from now and during the national convention. Their polling will rise again then too, this time to new highs.

To use a cliche, at the end of the day, it doesn't matter who becomes POTUS. IMO America is broken, and like Humpty is beyond putting back together. Like all empires that came and went before, the US has entered the decline phase, destroyed from within. The Romans tried to placate the mob with bread and circuses, the US has foodstamps and torture porn on tv.

I'm pickin' that China is the ascending power. Young people would be best off learning Mandarin now.

If the Donald wins, at least we'll have some entertainment as the good ship USA slowly sinks beneath the waves of history.

I hope the Donald wins, and Obama has to stand there while Trump is sworn in. Then I hope Trump refuses to shake his hand, or even acknowledge his existence followed by throwing him out of the White House, if he hasn't had the sense to already vacate the place. Obama had no right to get involved personally against Trump. Support HRC by all means, but attacking Trump is just so low class.

I don't know what the opposite of a gentleman is, but you sound like one.

Also, it's very common for lame-duck presidents to speak their minds about upcoming election candidates. Find one, other than Nixon, who didn't do that, and I'll be impressed. Nixon didn't do that because he resigned in disgrace.

I gotta admit, as much as I loathe The Divider, it would be interesting to see the weekly turmoil he creates (except where it becomes harmful for innocent others). Like Thaksin, he'll be in the headlines every day, with a gaffe, a flip-flop, a misinformed statement, a sordid revelation, a scandal. If The Divider didn't have a major scandal in his first 15 months, I'd be truly amazed. He's a walking talking disaster. Everything he touches either explodes or melts down.

LOL. There are no "gentlemen" left. Sure, there are some nice men around, but the idea of the chivalrous man that puts others before his own interests as a standard of society has long gone, washed away by a culture of backstabbing, deceit and "me first".

When I worked out that the saying "nice guys get washed away" is in fact true, I stopped being a gentleman, and became more like a normal man in today's world.

A president that didn't? Easy peasy, Bill Clinton.

Frankly, I don't think a sitting President should openly support any candidate

That's ridiculous. Once nominated, it is typical for a sitting president that is being term limited out to support their party's nominee. Obama has not openly taken sides between Clinton and Sanders. That is also normal because it is before nomination. What is not typical is the non-endorsements of the vile monster by previous presidents of his own party. Another sign that he's radioactive.

As Bush the younger publicly attacked Trump, why in Hades would he or his father even consider endorsing him?

You still, apparently, don't get it. Trump is loathed by normal politicians because he can't be bought, can't be controlled. The previous presidents of his own party are all bought and sold paid up members of the establishment. WHY would they endorse a man that is contrary to everything they hold dear?

BTW the decision of Bush the younger, a president even worse than Obama, if that is possible, to attack Trump was a HUGE mistake, only making Trump even more popular.

The fascist and other rightists just lost an election in Austria. The gold bugs just a couple of years ago lost big time their referendum in Switzerland. CCP economy is crumbling and already occasionally crashing as in the commodity markets just this month, in addition to the SCS.

The election of Trump is your only hope so brace yourself for this one too cause the uniquely American Mussolini is going to be strung upside down by the vast centrist and moderate electorate of the US in November.

So even if you might be right, while the situation of the United States would be hopeless, it nonetheless would not be a serious one. biggrin.png

The Soviet Union which was another cherished entity of the global totalitarian right was the last empire of history. Gone and kaput, same as the CCP Dictators in Beijing are in process of experiencing.

It's been a bad week for Hillary but better now than in October.

Some good news ... it's clear now that KASICH will not endorse the vile monster.

That means less of a chance that he'll win in Ohio and losing in Ohio would be a big step towards LOSING ... period.

Did you not read that Trump has the necessary delegates to be the candidate? He won already.

As for loser Kasich, no one ever expected him to endorse Trump. Why would he?

I wasn't suggesting it wasn't routine or limited to Obama. Everyone knows where the Presidents party loyalty is. Knowing that half the countrys population will not vote for your party dog, I think it would be more dignified to keep the office elevated above the shitstorm rather than wading in.

Republicans must be so embarrassed at this every day. Trump has got to be the lowest IQ presidential candidate in history. He can't even memorize the stuff his handlers are probably spoon feeding him in simple words. What a retard.

Donald Trump waded into energy policy in a speech in North Dakota on Thursday, betraying the same lack of basic knowledge about how the energy business works that he has shown on nuclear weapons, international alliances, and global trade

The presumptive nominee rattled off a litany of confusing or incorrect statements about U.S. and global energy. He said that federal regulations on oil producers make it “harder and harder to turn a profit,” overlooking a historic collapse in oil prices. He said he would legalize U.S. crude oil exports, which Congress already did last year. And he compared sanctions relief on Iran to the Obama administration’s hostile stance toward the Keystone pipeline, complaining that now more oil will flow through Iran’s “pipeline with no environmental review whatsoever.” Iran, of course, exports its crude oil by tankers.

Jezuz, every frickin time this guy opens his mouth it's like Forrest Gump. I hope all the Trump supporters are proud of themselves. laugh.pngclap2.gif

The world is doing more than shuddering at the prospect of Trump, they are considering hiring interpreters for the dumb if he is elected.

Agreed. Obama said he had more faith in the American people than to vote for Donald Trump. Promoting a candidate from your own party is fair enough but to pass judgement on an opposition candidate should be out of order for a sitting President.

What will finally decide are the numbers who want to keep the status quo versus the numbers who want change. Making emotional judgements and castigations that Trump is a Mussolini type is irrelevant. Moreover, the liberal left should be taking responsibility for the rise of Trump by propping up and continuing to support the current political establishment, for without the discontent which has seen a non politician displace 17 moneyed experienced establishment politicians Trump would not even be there in the first place. Only oblivious to the blind it seems who cannot figure out why but continue to shoot the messenger.

It is interesting to me that members on this forum mainly from the "left" predict what will happen and who will be POTUS and posters from the "right"mainly hope what will happen and who will be POTUS. Kind of illustrates the arrogance of the so called liberal left it looks and this forum is just a microcosm of the bigger reality.

The Soviet Union which was another cherished entity of the global totalitarian right was the last empire of history.

The USSR was totalitarian LEFT wing.

The anti-Obama right is exactly where the Soviet Chekist Vladimir Putin is and always was, i.e. youse guyz are so far right you have always been standing next to and shaking hands with the totalitarian left. It's called closing the circle.

Youse guyz Brics fell down too and it wuz Obama who dunnit and rather swiftly besides....

In a precious few years, the US has managed pretty well in fending off a major international challenge to its global hegemony posed in the form of a coalition of “emerging economies” known as BRICS, boldly contemplating reforming the western-dominated financial institutions, alternatives to US dollar, restructuring the world economy, and the like, like a sweet dream punctured by the ensuing counterpunch of a rude awakening.

How did the US manage these counterblows, so quickly and so effectively? By playing down and dirty of course, putting its colossal soft and hard power to work to unravel the BRICS daydream. First it was the Ukraine coup that targeted Russia’s vital access to Crimea, forcing Putin’s hands, followed by tough western sanctions, while demonizing him as the bad guy, followed by an outright oil conspiracy with the Saudis glutting the oil market and thus delivering a devastating blow to the oil-dependent Russian economy, then targeting Russia’s Mediterranean base in Syria by playing the radical jihadist card through local proxies, and finally managing a wholly unholy regime change in Brazil, by co-conspiring with the pro-American puppets in dethroning a popularly-elected president with the lamest excuses. As a result, Brazil today is for all practical purposes fully back in the US orbit, its BRICS dream thrown to dustbin of history.

All of this and more are beyond Trump's brain which is no better than the brain of his promoters, all of whom have missed the whole of it and who'd instead phuck up a wet dream.

Vote Hillary for more of the same thx.

The United States lost a lot of face in the eyes of the world as a result of what the Bush / Cheney administration did around the globe.and why they did it.

With the embarrassing Trump episode in American politics, what face the U.S. has left is rapidly evaporating.

The world is hoping it stops at just being an episode in politics, and does not become a world wide catastrophe.

Unfortunately, arrogant Americans have never cared much what the rest of the world thinks of them as long as they have what they want.

I know.

America is my home country.

Wrong again.

The quote cited is informative, as is the post itself. It is in fact horrendously revealing of Trump. And then same same concerning Trump's promoters.

So kindly consider visiting here thx....http://www.readingrockets.org/

It is beyond dispute Donald Trump is uninformed and moreover uneducable. The facts have now become the global consensus. The firmly recognised and greatly feared global consensus.

Trump's promoters can hardly be seen as any different or otherwise.

Just prior to the West Virginia primary, Trump was kissing ass for coal miners. At one point he chided environmentalists for being against hair spray because it damages the ozone layer. Ha ha ha. Yet, it so happens hair spray's affect on the ozone layer was an issue in the 1960's. It's proof yet again, how Trump is living in the past. Now wonder he keeps saying "Let's make America Great Again" His mind is stuck in some time warp from 50 to 60 years ago.

It also explains why he's clueless about climate change. It's so easy for him to be anti-science, and then make a cute puppy dog face to his fans, as if to say, "why should I be abreast of what's happening in the world? Look kids, you see blue skies? it's not too hot right now. Why is anyone worried about global warming or running low on water? I saw someone today in a t-shirt watering his lawn. That's proof right there that global warming is dumb. Trust me on this folks, global warming is a hoax."

I'm going to write some of my first words of respect for Trump today after reading this new piece in the Washington Post about his management style. First, I will say that I don't agree with his management style, but do agree that this style can work in business, along with many other styles of leadership. I'm not sure if it works in government, but it will be an interesting experiment if he does beat Clinton in the fall.

It's bad practice to divulge much on public forums, but so there is no mistake that I do know what I am talking about, I have been a global CEO much of my life, and have mentored others who have become CEOs of both Fortune 500 and startup companies. I still think Trump's a dick, and not that intelligent, but he appears to be an effective CEO and leader.

In campaign chaos, Donald Trump shows his management style

I am still waiting for Hillary to be non-offensive.

That's like waiting for her to stop with the lies isn't it? thumbsup.gif

Yet more proof that you haven't listened to HRC's speeches, statements. You're so smug, thinking you know what her policy statements, but you frankly don't know what she's been saying for the past 10 months. I've listened to stump speeches and interviews of all the candidates. I'm much better informed than y'all. I speak with some knowledge of what's going. You'all are just speaking like small time h.s. punks who hate the popular girl who comes from the school on the other side of the tracks.

HRC talks about things like: creating jobs (T gets his products made in China), helping the disadvantaged (T ridicules spastics), helping people improve their lives (T implies anyone who isn't rich is a loser and probably deserves to be poor because they're lazy liberals).

HRC knows a lot about health care issues and how Big Pharma is ripping off Americans (Trump doesn't know much about health issues, and has no problem with Big Pharma billionaires and monopolies).

Hillary is on friendly terms with foreign leaders (Trump clashes with most foreign leaders he has interactions with. His fans say, "So what?! Why be friends with foreigners? Our hero says they're all trying to rip us and take advantage of the US, so it's good they don't like Trump").

I'm waiting for the pic which shows a guy with long hair holding a sign saying 'Environmentalist for Trump'

Boomer, that's hilarious. How about these signs, which are just as unlikely to see:

Brown people for Trump

Yellow people for Trump

Black people for Trump

Smart people for Trump

Halfway smart people for Trump

Dumb people with half a brain for Trump

Foreign countries for Trump (insert your any country here)

However, as unlikely as those are, Trump is a rollerball and master of manipulating the media now, and drones are soaking it up. He is to be taken seriously now, as absolutely implausible as that seems.
