Financial for the Retirement Visa

Recommended Posts

I am confused about the financial requirement for the retirement visa. do you need to have 800,000 in the bank AND 65,000 baht a month income? Or, is it like the marriage visa where you just have to show the income?

Thanks in advance.

Assuming this question is not a troll attempt let us begin by recognising that there is no "retirement visa ".

For an "extension of stay based on retirement" (it is not a visa) the financial requirement can be met by ------------

  1. 800,000 Bht in a Thai bank OR
  2. A monthly income certified by the applicants Embassy of 65,000 Bht OR
  3. A combination of 1+2 totaling 800,000 Bht

2.22 In the case of retirement:

Each permission shall be granted for no more than one year.

The alien:

(1) Must have been granted a non-immigrant visa (NON-IM).

(2) Must be 50 years of age or over.

(3) Must have evidence of having income of no less than Baht 65,000 per month: or

(4) On the filing date, the applicant must have funds deposited in a bank in Thailand of no less than Baht 800,000 for the past three months. For the first year only, the applicant must have proof of a deposit account in which said amount of funds has been maintained for no less than 60 days prior to the filing date: or

(5) Must have an annual earning and fluids deposited with a bank totaling no less than Baht 800,0000 as of the filing date.

all you really need is $50...the cost of an income affidavit at the American Embassy. smile.png

What, exactly, are you implying ?

To prove your monthly income requirement, for an American, you need to sign a document saying how much you make and have it notarized at the US embassy in Bangkok. No proof of income is required, other than your guarantee as notarized.

I've heard some local immigration offices do ask for backup documents. Not all, but some.
