rmicheald
I am confused about the financial requirement for the retirement visa. do you need to have 800,000 in the bank AND 65,000 baht a month income? Or, is it like the marriage visa where you just have to show the income? Thanks in advance.

sunnyjim5
Assuming this question is not a troll attempt let us begin by recognising that there is no "retirement visa ". For an "extension of stay based on retirement" (it is not a visa) the financial requirement can be met by ------------ 800,000 Bht in a Thai bank OR A monthly income certified by the applicants Embassy of 65,000 Bht OR A combination of 1+2 totaling 800,000 Bht

craigt3365
all you really need is $50...the cost of an income affidavit at the American Embassy. What, exactly, are you implying ? To prove your monthly income requirement, for an American, you need to sign a document saying how much you make and have it notarized at the US embassy in Bangkok. No proof of income is required, other than your guarantee as notarized. I've heard some local immigration offices do ask for backup documents. Not all, but some.
