BRISBANE: A man accused of biting the head off a live rat and posting the video on social media has fronted court for the first time on charges of animal cruelty.

Albion's Matthew Maloney, who refers to himself as "Mad Matt" on his Facebook page, was charged by RSPCA investigators after posting the video online in January.
