PHUKET: -- A Phuket man has been taken to hospital after he launched into a violent episode in Phuket Town this morning (Mar 9) because a roadside lottery ticket vendor would not sell him any lottery tickets – which the man claimed the “solar eclipse god” had told him would be lucky.

Lt Sontaya Lukkleang of the Phuket City Police at 10am was called to investigate a crazed man who was smashing a lottery stand and destroying items at the Buddhist supplies shop on Ong Sim Pai Rd.

Police arrived with Kusolharm rescue workers to found a shirtless man running amok, punching motorists driving by.

“Rescue workers attempted to stop him when ran out into the middle of the road and hit people. We got him while he was engaged in a fist fight with one motorist who had punched him back and injured his left cheek,” Lt Sontaya said.

After the incident the Solar Eclipse God released this statement:

"I categorically deny having contacted Mr. Sukthiporn in any way. I am in no way responsible for any damages and I will sue any person or entity for defamation that keeps publishing my name in connection with this incident. I will also inform my brother, Lunar Eclipse God, about this nonsense and discuss possible punitive measures. Heck, we just might go on strike! No more eclipses!"
