I took the kids to see the matinee performance of the latest theater production at Chiang Mai International School (CMIS) this morning. “Amen Corner” which was adapted from the play written by James Baldwin. This is a heavy piece of writing and I must say the drama students at CMIS have done another fantastic job! Kudos to the director and drama teacher Mr. Stephan Turner for taking on such a difficult project.

I spoke with Mr. Turner briefly after the show and asked why he had chosen this play. He told me his students need to be challenged and his audiences need to be challenged as well. I think they will be! CMIS is a Christian school and this play presents a look inside a small storefront Christian church which is unlike any church many of us have ever seen.

Highly recommended!
