SAKAEW: A large combined police and army force raided 12 locations in Sakaew province as part of the government’s crackdown on influential criminal figures and syndicates on Friday.

The coordinated raids were led by Pol Gen Srivara Rangseepromnakul, the deputy national police chief, and Maj-Gen Srisak Poonprasit, commander of the Burapha task force and Sakaew governor Pakaratorn Thienchai.

It was however reported that news about the raids were leaked out to some of the targeted influential criminal figures prompting them to be alerted in advance and to make good their escape or to remove the illegal items to safer places.

The raid of a house in Ta Phraya district which is owned by Kamnan Plai Munpuen, the raiding team managed to seize one handgun with four cartridges, five rifles with five cartridges, one electric saw and a walkie-talkie.

Kamnan Plai reportedly claimed that he inherited the firearms from his predecessor and he had no idea where they came from. However, he insisted that the guns had never been used for illegal purposes.

The authorities also found in the house a Cambodian migrant worker with a fake Thai ID card.

At the second location raided, two Cambodian illegal migrant workers were found.

Results of the other raids are not known.

"Leaked" out? I am surprised.

The Army should move in and leave the Police and especially the Governor out of the loop! Will the authorities never learn? sad.png

No They should not. Its the police responsibility to take care of civilian law and order and NOT the military's. This is the biggest problem in Thailand, the military thinks it owns the country. Ever heard of all the coups?

Of course it is the Police responsibility - but you are willing to have the somewhat corrupt regulate the corrupt? No way - ain't going to happen.

Maybe some of the military is corrupt but I would suggest no where near as corrupt as much as the Police or local administrators! Look at the track record of some the Police and local administrators. The talk is about corruption NOT politics! Stop with the coup sh*t as an excuse all the time.

And I guess you know who "leaked" the raids? Enlighten us.

Nah, didn't think so. coffee1.gif
