Cheaper Blowtorch for Cooking in Pattaya

Recommended Posts

Friendship's new annex has blowtorches for cooking, but they're pricey.

Does anyone know where can get one for a better price?

Thanks in advance.

HomePro, Thaiwatsadu etc etc :)

There's a thread in DIY about blowtorches.

Hardware house at Bahn Amphur near to the Ambassador Hotel has blow torch heads and clip on gas bottles for them.

165 baht for the gun and 110 baht for 3 bottles of gas.

Had a cheap one from Homeworks (Next to BigC South)

Same one is also sold in Thai Wassadu

Can't remember the price but around 160-180 without the gas can

Mine broke after a few use though

Nice, but needs to be imported so 1 month for delivery.

Check some of the tourist tat selling stalls on lower Beach Road. Several have large ones for sale as cigar lighters. Perfect for those crème brûlée.

Tried Homeworks, Homepro, Thai Watsadu, but only Hardware house out in Baan Amphur had some. Thanks for all the help.

Sounds good. Would you be able to provide better directions, please? The only Ambassador I know is Ambassador City on the way to Sattahip, and the hardware store near it is SCG. Is this the place you are referring to?

Much thanks.

Yes its the one that has the SCG sign...they extended to the rear with a large air conditioned building and further back is a drive in warehouse with bulkier items

Why on earth they haven't put a "Hardware House" sign on the front facing Sukhunvit for everyone to see is anyone's guess.

The blowtorches are in the middle of the shop about half way down, they are at the end of a row or racks where the isles cross.

I picked up one of those blowtorch attachments for a gas bottle a couple of weeks ago at Hardware House during my search for a heat gun. Cost around 200 baht. One would need to be really careful using these in a kitchen as there's very little 'low heat' adjustment. It was too hot for the plastic heat-shrinking on wiring harnesses I was making too. But it has been great for frying the ticks and bugs invading the front porch after the new pest control contractor sprayed the yard.
