NBTC receive first 4G payment from True

BANGKOK, 14 March 2016 (NNT) - True Move H Universal Communication Co Ltd, one of the two 4G auction winners, made it first payment to the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC).

The NBTC has received 8.6 billion baht, including a value-added tax, from telecoms service provider True Move H. The company won its 4G license back in November last year when it offered 39.79 billion baht during a 30-hours-long auction. The other winner was Advanced Wireless Network Co Ltd (AIS).

After receiving the first payment, the NBTC said the official 4G license will be granted to True Move H on March 15th (Tuesday). All of the money received will be forwarded to the Ministry of Finance.

So that's payment for the first block 1800mhz.. What about the 900mhz block..

So why do so many people think they already have 4g? Some of my friends swear they have it and say 4g appears in the notification bar where 3g used to.

POSSIBLE because their phones are picking up an LTE frequency! Networks have been using LTE 4g on their own respective frequency allocations for a year or so now.

So why do so many people think they already have 4g? Some of my friends swear they have it and say 4g appears in the notification bar where 3g used to.

When I get download and upload speeds in the range of 28 Mb I assume it may be 4G.

that could also be 3g.. In theory 3g is capable of 42Mb download.

Its a shame that so many people have no clue about what is going on. All providers offer 4G already but on different frequencies like 850mhz, 900mhz or 2100mhz. 2G,3G or 4G is just a protocol. The government does not charge you for what protocol you use but they want money for the frequency. The 1800mhz is the best for 4G data usage, it will give customers a better 4G more stable connectivity then on 850,900 or 2100mhz, this is the reason why they all want it ;)

No provider is paying for 4G. The mobile providers only pay money so they are allowed to use the 1800mhz frequency in Thailand which is the best for 4G.

While you're right in theory, the reality is a little different.

It's called paying your bill; quite a few of us do it.

I don't know if 1800mhz is the best, but when talking about radio waves and which one is the "best", it usually means how far the signal can travel and how far the signal can penetrate through solid objects (like when you are inside of a building). I'm not sure if the frequency affects the bandwidth at all.
