DPM Prawit assures Senate does not enjoy special power

BANGKOK: -- Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan assured Thursday that the appointed Senate proposed by the National Council for Peace and Order does not enjoy any special power as widely misunderstood.

He said that the Senate’s main duty is to make sure that the national reforms and the 20-year national strategic plan as wished by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha are implemented and followed through besides the normal legislative duty in the parliament.

“I don’t know how the CDC will consider this matter. But I can assure you that the Senate will focus on national reforms and the national strategic plan during the five-year transitional period. The Senate cannot control the government,” said the deputy prime minister.

The NCPO has proposed 250-member fully-appointed Senate to be in the office for five years, five military top brass members and the national police chief be made ex-officio senators and an outsider can be appointed prime minister during the transitional period.

Getting so tired of seeing this fat kcuf on tv almost everyday now. Unlike Prayuth who comes across as ''differently abled'' mentally, Prawit seems cocky and arrogant. Is he being set up to replace Prayuth???

He is the power broker in the junta government not Prayuth and smart enough to let Prayuth be the PM and take all the heat. By the way he is called Toad and not fat kcuf by the media.

100% this, I saw in one international publication where it labelled him as the Worlds leading authority on conducting and organizing coups.

Sounds like he has studied ancient Roman history (the latter part) and we all know what happened to them?

With this particular proposal there is also the issue that one of these pre-selected senate posts is for the permanent secretary of the defence ministry which just happens to be Prayut's younger brother hence the difficulties that might arise from Prayut fronting this - wouldn't look good for the PM to be insisting that a senate seat for his brother is written into the constitution!

Was ever a face made so perfectly to sit alongside those of Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Pol Pot, Hussein and the others, in the Political Section of the "Gallery of Evil"?
