Bus from Tak to Friendship Bridge in Maesot.

Featured Replies

I know about the small buses that run regularly from Tak to Maesot, but after I get to Maesot, when you get off the bus,

how do you get to the Friendship Bridge? Baht bus or motorbike taxi? and how far is it? Thank you.

In the past, the answer was to take a (fairly frequent) songtaew to "Rim Moei" (bank of Moei river where the market next to the bridge is located) but I have not done it for a few years.

It is worth mentioning that, if you fly to Mae Sot, the airport is close enough to the bridge to walk (for me a mid sixties sedentary male, who does, however, tend to walk everywhere if it takes less than 30 minutes or so).

I know where the airport is, it is about 8 years since I got a bus from Tak, it dropped you of a good few Ks from the bridge, and you got a songtaew.

I think there is a bus station in Tak down near the airport, I see it on google earth, but I cannot find it by zooming in or going to street level, it could be that

it was not built when the google van was there. I wonder if anyone knows about that bus station, and if the bus from Tak goes there.

  • Take a songthaew (shared pickup) to the Friendship Bridge

Tuk-tuks will try to charge you 100 baht to take the 5km journey. Instead, save some dollars and walk past the markets and ask the drivers for a songthaew to Friendship Bridge. They will kindly point you in the right direction. Cost is 20 baht and it will leave when it is full. And by full, we mean full!
