BANGKOK, 19 March 2016 (NNT) – Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has highlighted the importance of the Security Business Act, B.E. 2558, saying the enforcement of the law is to ensure the highest standards of security services in Thailand.

In response to a recently-submitted petition about the promulgation of the Security Business Act which has been in force since March 5th, 2016, Gen Prayut said the enforcement was necessary in order to ensure that security services provided to both the public and the private sector are reliable.

The act mandates that security service companies be legally registered and that personnel working in security must be Thai citizens and have a qualification equivalent to Mathayomsuksa 3. Most importantly, people seeking security jobs must not have a criminal record or mental disorders.

people seeking security jobs must not have a criminal record or mental disorders.

That would severely limit the pool of available 'talent'.

wow, so now all the security companies have a problem....

they have to fire about 50 % of their staff. and where would they find replacements?

This seems reasonable (and somewhat surprising it was not done before).

Now, regarding the RTP, and their shortcomings, reform is way overdue.

The requirements here would disqualify a few politicians................................................cheesy.gif

Squeeze from here, squeeze from there. That's how you make a sponge dry and Thailand for Thais only. Weld the gate shut after the last invaders have left.

have a qualification equivalent to Mathayomsuksa 3 ... must not have a criminal record or mental disorders.

Will paramilitary contractors operating in the South have to comply with the Security Business Act?

I suspect they will be exempted as it is the military that employs them, albeit using federal funds.

Can anyone tell me what the education level (Mathayomsuksa 3) relates to relative to say UK levels (O/A level or whatever the current equivalent is) and normal age to pass here?
