Medical facilities around Buriram for Farang

My g/f lives in Chiang Mai but is building a house in Buriram. When her daughter is old enough she is planning on moving back to her village in Buriram. I currently reside in Chiang Mai anywhere from 6- 8 months then go back to the USA. My question or concern is I have to go for periodic blood tests at a hospital in Chiang Mai to check my INR (Warfarin) levels to make sure it is in the therapeutic range. If, and when, at some point in the future when my g/f moves back to Buriram, I need to find a hospital or medical facility at a reasonable distance in order to continue to go for my periodic testing of my blood. Is there any hospital or medical facilities in Buriram, or nearby where I can go? I am not familiar with the area so I don't really know about distances from Buriram to some of the bigger cities in Isaan. Any info or clarification would be much appreciated.

It's a 2 hour trip to Korat. Any kind of medical any medical attention you need will be available there.

Not sure of anything specific but blood testing is available in small towns. I get my blood checked in Nong Bua Lamphu. Buriram is much bigger. Takes about 2 hours for results.

Check out the hospital by the railway station (opposite side of tracks). My mother in law has received treatment for a tumour but she had to go to Udon Thani for that and most specialist services appear to be centralised in a particular place.

There are many small clinics that will check blood - not sure if they check for Warfarin as I do not think that is typical but you will just have to ask around. You could even ask for it to be done as a special request - - also, many doctors keep small storefront offices and you could request there... I bet you can find it relatively local..

good luck.

I have used the hospital near the railway and treatment was very good with well qualified doctors, a few can even speak English.

No need to travel to Korat for medical treatment.

Thank you for the replys. Does anyone know where Nong Bua Lamphu is in proximity to Buriram? Also, a couple of posters mentioned a hospital by the railway station evidently named Echamai Hospital. I am flying blind, so to speak, since I have never been to Isaan so I was wondering how far this hospital is from Buriram?

As GordonP already said Echamai hospital across the railway is a good hospital.

PHONE NUMBER IS 043-272234

"The number made my blood boiling..".....thanks for sharing. thumbsup.gif

At your next visit to the Chiang Mai hospital, couldn't you just ask them for a suitable hospital in Buriram?

Watgate, the hospital is Buriram Ekachon (Private) Hospital. You can check its website.

It is right in the town, and anyone will be able to direct you.

Nong Bua Lamphu is a long way away, up in the north of Isaan.

More specifically, where are you going to be living. "Buriram" city is well defined howeveHowr Buriram generically can cover a very wide area. We are just 15km from the city pillar however I speak to some guys who are 50+ km away and technically closer to Surin or Korat but their partners consider that they are in Buriram.

Buriram has two major Hospitals. This is a photo of the Ekachon Buriram Hospital also known as the Buriram Private Hospital. This eight story hospital is very near the active Railroad Tracks on Lukmuang Road | Highway 2074 | Buriram - Phutthaisong Highway. This Hospital generally has shorter waiting times for out patient services than the much larger Buriram Government Hospital. Telephone 044-625-340. The Buriram Ekachon Hospital was recently painted on the exterior. Buriram Roma Pizza Restaurant is less than one minute from the Ekachon Buriram Private Hospital. I also recommend expats consider out patient care and tests at the larger Buriram Government Hospital.

Toss, forgive me for not checking the internet. In my defense, since I am not familiar with Isaan, and more specifically Buriram, I thought it best that I post on the Isaan forum to get some valuable info. I do understand Buriram is a very wide area, and upon my return to Chiang Mai, I will have my g/f call the hospitals and medical clinics to see if they do specific blood testing for my health issue, and if so, where are they in proximity to my g/f land and eventual house. Kamalabob2 thank you for the info on Buriram's 2 major hospitals. Do you, by any chance, know the address and ph# of the larger Buriram Government Hospital? Lastly, a previous poster mentioned a hosptal by the railway station, namely Echamai Hospital. I take it he was probably referring to Ekachon Buriram Hospital. Do you concur? Once again, thanks for all the valuable info and helping me sort out the maize of Buriram.

Both Hospitals in Buriram are near an active rail road track. The Private Hospital is Ekachon Hospital. The much larger Government Medical facility is the Buriram Government Hospital Provincial Medical Center Telephone 044-615-001 located on Na Sathani Road.
