Hi !

I know there is a couple of posts like that running already, but I hope this is quite different enough.

I am not familiar with anything health related. I have not seen any doctor in my life other than dentist. I am 34y.o. man, do a lot of sport, try to eat reasonably. Consider myself as a healthy guy.

However, I think it is time to do some comprehensive check of my body, because prevention is always the best.

I would like to know, what kind of test package should I take, where and how much it costs ?

Thank you for any advice.

At 34 in good health, you could go anywhere - really. It's probably never too early to get your prostate checked. That and some routine labs. There are packages at all of the hospitals. Most all have promotional packages.

Never been to a doctor in your entire life? For real?

The private hospitals all offer "Health Check Packages". Yes, Bangkok Hospital is running a nice promotion right now, thru April 8, so it's a good opportunity to enjoy five star service and testing with the newest, most advanced equipment for the same price you'd pay at the older hospitals popular with other forum members who like to bash Bangkok Hospital.

But, if one of the other hospitals (CM Ram, McCormick or Rajavej) is closer to home for you, then they could be a good choice. Sripat does offer health screening, but frankly they are so confusing for a newbie to deal with that I wouldn't make that hospital my first recommendation, especially for someone who is healthy.

Most will have a "package" for a Male in his 30s vs. one for a male of an older age. Right now the price for the health check for a male age 30-40 at Bangkok Hospital is 6,900 baht. Be sure to fast for 12 hours before you come in at 8 am for the exam.

According to the American Cancer Society, men should not start having PSA testing until age 50 unless they are at high risk i.e. family history of developing prostate cancer. And even then, age 45 or age 40 is the recommended age of first PSA screening -- not in the 30s.

The OP is to be commended for starting to have health screening in his 30s for more likely problems -- diabetes, high blood pressure and cholestrol.
