PHUKET: -- A Myanmar national was taken to hospital handcuffed to a hospital trolley today (Mar 31) after being assaulted by a group of teenagers who he tried to shoot with a pen gun.

The incident occurred in front of children and parents who had gathered in the playground of Muang Phuket Municipal School on Phonpol Rd.

Maj Rakkhet Munmuang from Phuket City Police arrived at the scene and told reporters, “The assaulted man, Yan, 21, from Myanmar suffered a head injury. We found him sitting against a wall next to a pool of blood, beside him was a pen gun.

“He was taken to Vachira Hospital so he could be treated for his injuries. Officers will be monitoring him while we investigate the incident,” he said.

Yet another foreigner attack on Thai people in Thailand. This is often the result.

There are not many who can take on the Thais on their own turf and come out a winner. When will these foreigners learn?

Thai style instant justice. If this was in a western country they would be handing out bravery medals for taking on the schoolyard gunman unarmed.

I trust the Burmese shooter learnt a valuable lesson today.

The "foreigner" may well have lived in Thailand all his life and like many young Burmese and Thai Yai he may well be part of a rival Thai gang. Of course this is idle speculation and probably not the case at all.

What is more familiar though is a gang of Thais beating up a single opponent. You have to wonder why one young man would think he could take on a whole gang with a single shot pen gun? Was he cornered and feared for his life?

More speculation of course but T.I.T and the truth is rarely told by anyone.
