PHITSANULOK:-- A massive police operation has resulted in the arrest of a 45 year old man wanted in connection with the rape and strangulation murder of a 14 year old girl in Phitsanulok.

The man Son Humpiang, was trapped hiding in the cornfield of the father of the girl he is said to have raped and strangled to death in the Nakorn Thai area of the north eastern province of Thailand. He is a neighbour of the girl.

Plain clothes officers from a large task force mobilized in the wake of the horrific crime and acting on an arrest warrant led the man away to Nakorn Thai station. They were obliged to protect him from angry relatives of the victim, a grade two high school student in the vicinity.

A furious public were in no doubt about the guilt of the alleged murderer. The first comment on a Thai language news site screamed: "You revolting hellish animal" while a second poster said:"He shouldn't have got to the police station. He should have been beaten to death and sent on his way. If he goes to jail he will get out in a few years and do it again."

The case against the man is proceeding while he was remanded in custody.

vermin.

if he is found guilty, and does some jail time, hopefully the victims family have the money or contacts in jail to remind him of his crime.

he will be a nervous creep on his release.

on the other hand, money changes hands in a compensation payment at village level.

Never a day passes without reading about some sex case doing stuff like this, I don't know the stats VS here and my home country but I surely read about it a hell of a lot more here. If found guilty, straight O.B.E, not a knighthood but One Behind the Ear and send his family the cost of the trial and the bullet.

Vigilante justice sounds nice except when they get the wrong man, or the punishment doesn't fit the crime. easy to call for it when the crimes are gruesome, tough to hear about if the guy gets beaten to death when all the guy did was steal some things but people's emotions got out of hand. mobs can get unruly pretty quickl

This guy was also a village chief or something. Piece of garbage! I think someone in prison will take care of him.

I haven't read in the papers where rapist or murderers are regularly killed in prison.

You're right. In the US there are a staggering about of black men with death or life sentences for crimes they didn't commit.

No matter how heinous the crime, mob justice serves only to reduce society to the stone age. People can be stunningly ignorant and unthinking in their blind fury to lash out at the first target they find: I am reminded of this case in the UK a few years ago: http://www.theguardian.com/uk/2000/aug/30/childprotection.society

The police and judiciary may be woefully inadequate at times, but they are the best we have.

Or this even worse case http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/a-modern-british-murder-vigilante-neighbours-face-jail-after-convictions-over-murder-of-disabled-man-8909228.html

Mob justice, you just can't beat it. (No pun intended).

IF he is proved guilty (DNA etc.) then I have no problem hanging him which is what he deserves and no amount of 'group therapy', 'counselling' and 'group hugs' is going to turn this worthless piece of shit into a decent human being

I love the use of the word " ALLEGEDLY", again if Thailand had a crime lab called; CSI, would it be considered a comedy ? I don't think Thailand needs more foreign teachers who come here for 3 months to play. But, I think retired professional law enforcement specialist would suit their needs better.

I don't understand why he commented that her pants were sexy? Is that his defense? I remember farang ladies being warned that they could be raped if they wore anything sexy.

This is kind of a cultural thing, isn't it? He might be insinuating that she was at fault for wearing (sexy?) pants.

From the top on down to this mangy critter....wearing something that is sexy/attractive does not have anything to do with the crime.

We've had presumably western posters on another thread saying women who are groped during songkran are asking for it because of the way they dress.

It seems this ridiculous attitude that men who commit sexual assault can be provoked by what women wear and that women are to blame when this happens is alive and well across cultural boundaries.

It's still BS for all that.

He goes to prison, gets out in a few years to do it again?

I doubt thats actually going to be true.

Either taken care of in prison or taken care of when he gets out

You might be New in Thailand.

If you notice previous News on raping cases most criminals are repeat offender.

But now with the Pressure of Social media I think he'll be sentence to death like the previous Train rape case
