April 8, 20169 yr I came across this news story and couldn't help but think of the ED Visa in Thailand. From my usual tech news source Slashdot, https://yro.slashdot.org/story/16/04/07/1714215/governments-fake-university-trap-results-in-21-visa-fraud-arrests Which provides a nice summary, and also links to the official DOJ file. http://www.newsweek.com/university-northern-new-jersey-visa-fraud-arrests-444655 So the DOJ setup a fake University complete with what seems to be an elaborate website and all. Then I read... "The majority of students were from China and India and were already in the U.S. on student visas, but were looking for a way to stay in the country for a longer time, the AP reports." I couldn't help but change "U.S." to Thailand in my head. I could see a number of foreigners sign up here for ED Visa at some "fake" school or even a "real" sham bricks & mortar one for that matter, never attend, and then booted out. Some might say (I know people who already have/are). Anyway, an early Happy Songkran to all in advance Be safe!
