Hi

Who does have experience with the multi entry visitors visa?

I would appreciate someone stating with clarity the facts.

I received detailed info on Thai visa forum
that I could go up to Mae Sai
and get my next two months visa.

I have only used up two months
so far of my 6 months.

An acquantence wrote me
and said he was just up to Mae sai
and they would not give him two more months.

Typical Thai visa changes chaos continues?!

I would deeply appreciate the actual facts of if I can go up to Mae Sai and get 2 more months or not...

, now that I already have bought my round trip tickets from CM to Mae Sai for leaving next Tuesday morning.

Or in fact do I need to go elsewhere?

Thanks

p.s.

Is thee a definite sequence I can do,

to enlongate my 6 month multi entry visa for as long as I can.

If so,

how

and for how much longer?

Thanks for the facts

What reason was given for not giving a further permission to stay?

What was his "Enter Before" date on the visa?

Was it actually a multi-entry tourist visa?

You should be able to:-

  • Get an initial 60 day entry.
  • Extend that entry for 30 days at your local immigration (1900 Baht)
  • Get another 60 day entry.
  • Extend that entry for 30 days at your local immigration (1900 Baht)
  • Get a final 60 day entry. IMPORTANT you must make this entry before the "Enter Before" date on your visa.
  • Extend that entry for 30 days at your local immigration (1900 Baht)

If you have a valid visa you can cross any border to receive another 60 day entry (it is not a 'visa')

You cannot "elongate" your visa but you will be allowed entry if it is used on or before the visas "enter before date" which is clearly marked on the visa.

Not sure what happened to your friend. I cannot imagine any reason he did not get a new 60 day entry (not a visa) at Mae Sai from his METV. Are you sure he had one. They do not allow crossing without a visa for re-entry.

As stated, if you have a valid visa and are before the Enter Before data, you have nothing to worry about. I suspect your friend was trying to get a visa exempt entry (not possible at Mae Sai).

Usually the typical chaos involves some misunderstanding on the part of the "tourist" in regard to the type of visa he has ( or that his acquaintance has), its validity and its proper use ... for example the concept of "elongating" a visa.

In the past some people referred to a two or three entry tourist visa as a multi-entry visa, which it was not, and assumed it could be used for additional entries at any time. They've stopped issuing two or three entry visas, but it's possible someone got a three entry tourist visa some time ago and did not realize that it has expired.

If you actually have a unexpired METV issued in your home country or country of legal residence, then you should have no problem crossing a border & returning and being issued a new permission to stay (not a new or elongated visa). In all probability your acquaintance is confused about some aspect of his attempt or the visa that he may or may not possess.
