Imposter Facebook accounts appear of Samui residents including the editor of the Samui Times



SAMUI: -- Several imposter Facebook accounts have appeared online cloned from the Facebook accounts of Samui residents. The owner of these fake accounts has been using them to cause chaos among genuine Samui Facebook users who believe the rude and insulting messages being sent are from real Facebook users.

Suzanne Buchanan, the editor of the Samui Times, Facebook page was hit in the early hours of this morning – the cloned page claims that she would like donations for the two Burmese men found guilty of the rape and murder of Hannah Witheridge and David Miller in Koh Tao in September 2014 and asks those who wish to donate to contact via personal message in order to be given a bank account to pay into.

Local golf professional and Samui resident Alexander Lester’s account was also cloned – several obscene personal and public messages have been sent including comments on the Samui Times own online page.

Ex Samui resident Adam Murphys account has also been cloned and used to post obscene messages. Two more accounts in local residents names, who have not given us permission to publish have also fallen prey to imposter accounts.

A further Facebook account has appeared for the Burmese men – Donation for Wai Phyo and Zaw Linb – whoever created the account added the letter ‘b’ at the end of Zaw Lin’s name – his motives for the extra letter are unclear.

The police have been informed of the imposter accounts as have Facebook. If anybody else has suffered from imposter accounts please contact the editor of the Samui Times by emailing [email protected]

If anybody is receiving strange messages on Facebook or noticing strange comments under the articles of the Samui Times or any other group pages please contact Facebook by reporting the comment and person responsible for it immediately.

Saw quite a few lese majeste posts on someone else's page made by one of those accounts mentioned above, Maybe he got mirrored..... he's always threatening to get "CSI La and 'Anonymous' on 'ya.'

It's all so passe now that every jerk and his uncle has an "anothernonymous" FB page.

MY PRIVATE VIDEO apears on messenger fron one of your friend ...you click and it says you need a cloud complementary thing to download from chrome i think...

you end up sending porn to all your friends ...but i didnt have feedback just yet ... maybe it doesnt send it realy ..but it does worst ...it send the same virus

which is most unpleasant in Thailand as its forbidden... can send you to jail
