Good start Mr Hitchens!

I did not have a very good day, once we started driving around in the back of a truck, I used my el cheapo Samsung camera, which is far too slow! But would not have been a huge loss, like using my Canon...

On safe turf... Actually the traditional way to celebrate Songkran... Rose water and flowers gentle sprinkled! (I think rose water by the smell?)

Even I got "blessed" ...

One way to save from getting ice water or powder smeared all over ...

well..... until her niece gets in on the act...

We escaped the crass stupidity of CM for a traditional Songkran in my wife's village not far away.

(EDIT:....some eejit forgot to add the photos...)

A little group of children had fun near the village temple, but it was all very low-key and innocent. Lovely to experience, have been involved in the CM "Songkran" once (and never, NEVER, again!)
