Samakee 4 is a small soi that has some bends to it. Good chance the Russian guy was speeding (this particular fellow has been seen speeding around) came around one of the bends and wham, Leung Somchai happened to be in the road that barely fits one large car when going through these bends.

Bad luck ! Might have been avoidable at a more cautious speed.

Must have been speeding, seeing that damage to the car. Two speeders. coffee1.gif

60 kph each is a combined impact speed of 120 kph. What does a car look like after hitting a parked motorbike at 120 kph?
If both objects have equal mass

So he should face charges, this has happened in NZ where we drive on the right same as Thai and other countries, tired chinese and other foreign drivers have caused major fatalities by forgetting which side to drive on.

Lived in NZ for 72 years and I still drive on the left hand side of the road. Am I missing something here?.

The incident would have never become a news item, had the car driver been a Thai. End of story, and the "shoulds" don't countcoffee1.gif

There is considerable confusion on the issue. Some folks believe that the directional flow of traffic (left or right) is determined by the placement of the steering columnl, as the determining factor. coffee1.gif

A well stated, diplomatic contribution to the topic thread clap2.gif

Correction to post #36, whistling.gif "The incident would have never become a major news item, nor legal charges levied against the car driver, had that driver been a Thai, who killed a foreigner, instead."

Those charges are filed routinely. Make sure you have first class insurance.
