Charity donation suggestions

Heya

Got two things

I often put coins here and their into a bucket and when it gets close to full I give it to a charity that does not mind getting a big bucket full of change (perhaps 5000 in there now)

any suggestions? perhaps a place for orphans I am thinking?

Also

Cleaning up my room I see that I have two pairs of old glasses, not sure if anyone would benefit with glasses frames (doubt they would get use out of my prescription) I sometimes see TV shows about

people going in and giving away frames, so before I just throw them out was wondering if they could go to someone

The Freebird Cafe one the north side of the moat near Chang Puak Gate does marvelous things for Burmese refugees, mainly for the Children. They also run a charity/thrift shop if anyone has clothes, shoes, bags or other items they no longer use. They have a facebook page so they're easy to find for opening hours, although Sarnelil House is also an excellent cause.

GOOD FOR YOU!

it's shocking to me how we of the 'haves' give so little to the 'have-nots'. here's a very worthwhile charity. it's an orphanage where all the kids were born with HIV. talk about starting off life with a rough start.

Chiang Mai Rotary have a program that goes out into the mountains and does eye tests, provides glasses and identifies diabetes. I'm sure they could put both glasses frames and a donation to good use.

One post removed yesterday as inflammatory. One can support more than one cause. Another post removed implying this topic is soliciting. Perhaps look the word up as no one is asking for anything of personal benefit. Another off topic post removed. The topic title is Charity donation suggestions, not I'm broke, need money. See the difference?

When visiting the orphanage on the Wua Lai Rd. I took the photo below of preferred items for donation and eating/visiting hours.

Not specified on the list, but they also very much like cash donations.

Here's another one worth considering: http://bandekdee.org/

I ended up giving it to them just recently, it was close to my place and I am in a time crunch so seemed like a good choice. They seemed very happy to have it, it was probably a little more then 5000 Baht, certainly not a huge amount but I hope it helps them out somewhat

I also live close to BDD and have got to know them very well over the last 5 yrs, (my wife ;) ) has had a few fundraisers for them at our home over the years and we frequently visit each other, such as having all the kids come over for a BBQ. I can vouche for them and if anyone would like more info please feel free to pm me.
