Precious Woods Museum to maintain name until Royal Title bestowed

BANGKOK, 21 April 2016 (NNT) – A meeting of a the commission managing the nation’s precious woods has agreed to maintain the name “Precious Woods Museum” until the facility is bestowed with a Royal Title while calling for its construction work to be expedited.

Her Majesty the Queen's Deputy Private Secretary Thanphuying Charungchit Teekara, as a advisor to the precious woods commission, chaired the body’s first meeting for 2016, which was attended by Prime Minister’s Office Permanent Secretary Pol Gen Ake Angsananont and Public Relations Department Director-General Apinan Chantarangsri.

At the meeting, the chairman received a report that the commission’s subcommittee for design and construction had set up 3 more subcommittees in the areas of literature and history, architecture and interior design with an aim to expedite construction of a precious woods museum. The subcommittee believes work can begin this August and conclude by September 2020.

The Public Relations Department was tasked with publicizing the new museum alongside its promoting of the government’s policy for reforestation.

A major decision made at the meeting was for the facility to remain named the “Precious Woods Museum” until it is bestowed a Royal Title.
