Has anyone tried to make a mobile check deposit to a bank in their home country using a mobile deposit from their smart phone? I am just curious, because I have a received a check at my mail forwarding place. I will have them forward it to me in Thailand if I can do a mobile deposit using my phone.

My bank has it, but the one time I tried the software would not recognize my scanner so I gave up. I now forward checks to my son who does a mail deposit for me.

A couple of my U.S. banks have such a capability from your mobile phone or computer....works fine...I've used it occasionally...but it's been about a year since my last use as checks slowly continue to die off. All depends on your bank if they have the capability.

Yes, I've done it and it's very convenient. But make sure you've got a phone with an adjustable focus lens, not fixed focus. My bank's software, at least, will only work with an adjustable focus lens. And note that there's probably a limit on the value of checks you can deposit per day with your phone; I think mine is about US$2000.
