PHUKET: A wet road from an isolated rain shower in central Phuket today (Apr 23) was blamed for a pickup truck striking the back of another vehicle then flying across the median strip to hit an SUV. Two tour vans were also unable to avoid the collision.

The accident occurred on Thepkrasattri Road in Baan Lipon, shortly before 12:45pm today (Apr 23).
“Autchatha Itsariwateekorn, 67, said he was driving to the airport when he lost control because the road was wet,” said Lt Suporn Muangkhai of the Thalang Police.
Mr Autchatha’s Mitsubishi Triton pickup hit the back of Toyota Hilux, leaving only a dent in the bumper, but his vehicle then crossed the median, rolled onto its side and crashed into the side of a Mitsubishi Pajero heading southbound.
The Mitsubishi Pajero struck the back of a minivan in front of it, while another minivan slid sideways from behind and collided lightly into the rolled Triton.

NO, he lost control because he was driving to fast compared to the conditions........facepalm.gif

wet road, brakes not working, red light change too fast, is there ever going to be anything other than excuses?

If you live long enough in Thailand, you will soon find out that they will never admit to any wrong doing and they will always blame someone or something else, showing no remorse.

My wife was sitting in traffic at a red light, when a guy on a Motor cycle passed her on the left, he hit his head on the wing mirror of the car, he fell over, his bike had no, lights or registration and he had no license, the first thing he did was call all his friends and family and told them to get there asap as he has just been run over.

Within a few minuets there was about 50 people wanting to kill my wife, the police came and told her to pay 5000 baht to him, he also told her if it ever happens again, you should lock the doors and keep on driving.

So if what you stated is true that they will never admit to anything.. how do you know your wife was not in the wrong hitting the guy and making this story up to save face ?

Or does your logic only applies to other Thais ?

Crappy driving, no two ways about it. When the rain started yesterday I was thinking to myself, how many fender benders and down motorbikes there will be due to "the rain", Dumbasses!

You can't blame the rain you numnut. Take some responsibility and admit you didn't adjust to the conditions.

Name one post on TV were anyone has taken responsibility for their actions leading to a car crash. You know it is never their fault. The weather caused it or the song on the radio distracted the driver. Always an excuse except in all cases it was the drivers fault.

Too fast for road conditions... Thais will blame everything else for their misfortunes... Pathetic culture with an average IQ ov 82

What a load of Tossers It's Always the Drivers Fault,,,,,Not the Weather /Road / Train/House/ Learn to drive according to road condition.

Just imagine the number of accidents,if it snowed or they had icy roads here,

just a bit of rain and they are all over the road.

Happens in northern tropical parts of Australia too after 9 or 11 months of no rain, the slightest shower makes the road very slippery, build up of oil over time plus water etc.

Not excusing the driver for what happened but merely to put some perspective on conditions that a lot of people from Europe and parts of the USA would not understand or have experienced.

The two minibuses couldn't avoid the accident why did the not just stop speed and bald tyres what a combination and a Thai at the controls

Yeah, telling lies seems to be part of Thai culture. The first rain on a dry road will always be slippery.

Yep, can tell how the pick up is on its side, it was definitely the rains fault, speed and poor car craft had nothing to do with it...

Same on bends, really, you get the nutters flying past you at Warp factor 9 then they come to a bend and jump on the anchors??? No matter if its dry or wet/damp you see it all the time, Amazing Thailand! wai2.gifblink.png

same thing happened to my wife, stoped legally to make right hand turn with indicator on. Numnut comes down left, clips mirror and falls off. No injuries or damage to his bike but he was 16 and unlicenced. Cost the wife 3 thousand baht for him being an unlicenced numnut and had to take the car for repairs. Police said motor bikes are always in the right, a free pass so to speak
