Historic: Thailand records its highest temperature on record

Many anxiously waiting for the electricity/power bill.

And yet another all-time record on power consumption:

29.403 GW vs. 29.249 GW of yesterday (the last "all time record").

Theoretical limit 32 GW.

32 C minimum (before dawn): terrifying.

No relief in the foreseeable future.

The forecast for relief in mid May sounds like unfounded propaganda.

Irony: I am regularly watching TV from Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Snow down to the lowlands. Exceptionally cold for this time.

yeah, Lublyana in Slovenia is also covered by snow.

What a change from the unbearable heat of Thailand

It would be the highest recorded temperature in Thailand since recordings started.

What's your take?

ThaiMet does not show it yet.

I have already sent the news to TMD, they will probably check it later or tomorrow.

I get the data instantanously as soon as the synop came out . It's my job : climatologist specialized in record events.

Tomorrow morning TMD will publish its usual table with the daily values of temperatures and precipitations and they will probably announce the record to the media.

44.6 cant be the highest ever surely?

For Thailand it's a new record.

Consider that you might feel much hotter because the combination Temperature and humidity which is terrible in Thailand, but as for the temperature data itself, it beats the old record set back in 1960 at Uttaradit.

No offense.

Just that Thai Met will show the tables with a one day delay,

32 minimum at Bhumibol dam was already reached yesterday.

Its been 42 the last couple of weeks though, unseasonably in April

Never actually looked at what the record was, assumed It would have been more

I think our record in Aus has been something crazy like 50c

No problem, the fact I don't need TMD information 1 day later, I get that data instantaneously with the metars and synops transmissions as soon as they are released.

The new absolute record will be online tomorrow morning in their website, of course they have some due checks to do, but I see no problems with the Mae Hong Son temperature data, it was already on track for the record since late morning, it was 42C at noon and 43.5C in the 3pm synop, so i was just waiting for the 18Z release of the synop with the max of the day, hopefully to see that "damned" old record beaten. The 2016 heat wave so far has been the double as long as the 1960 heat wave (which temperature peak lasted around 5-6 days) and the national record is somewhat "deserved".

50.7 also in 1960 !

But it is damned dry overthere in the desert.

Not to much humidity it has been dry here in the North as no rain and everything dried out. This weather reminds me of parts of New Mexico hot and dry
