Is it against the law in Thailand for a Thai to tell another Thai, involved in a civil/domestic dispute, aided by a farang to claim to be a lawyer, the civil dispute is between the farang and his ex girlfriend(Thai)

How would you prove it?

It's hearsay

Thin ground I'd say but probably not illegal to say it but might be to provide a service unqualified

As a lawyer licensed in the U.S. who has had clients in Thailand and throughout Asia, I can tell you there are quite a few bad apples representing themselves as U.S. lawyers. Especially in the immigration area. Ask which bar they belong to then either search their name in the directory of the state bar site or call and ask. Thailand has become a dumping ground for disbarred US lawyers and some who never attended law school at all but represent themselves as lawyers. Be careful.

Anyone is allowed to represent anyone else in a civil case. Providing that person who is not a real lawyer doesn`t claim to be lawyer in writing or on any paperwork they are not breaking any laws.

its the most common scam in thailand ...

If you look for a lawyer you should ask your embassy for advice!

As featured on the Andrew Drummond website a lot of these dodgy law firms run by foreigners posing as lawyers in Thailand have been known to be on a lot of embassy lawyers lists so buyer beware.......
