I expect many of you with Hondas cbr 650fs have that annoying buzz from the instrument cluster at about 2-3,500 rpm, I took mine into Hua Hin Bigwing who said theyd fixed it but hadnt.........of course you get the " they all do that" crap from them as an "excuse" to do nothing and I know from experience to fix anything here you may as well do it yourself.

The buzz comes directly from behind the Chrome Honda badge in the middle of the instrument panel, if you push your finger on it gently it will stop.

To save dismantling the entire fairing and instrument housing to get to it as its almost impossible to get into you can do this.

Get a thin blade screw driver (stick some tape on the instruments if you want to not scratch anything) and gently prise up the surrounding very soft and flexible plastic next to the chrome Honda badge then while open slide under a bit of this nice (Tesco) thick about 5mm dense foam. My piece was about 2cm wide and 4.5cm long

Instant cure and about 1 minute to do...........end of problem.

Fantastic post, kannot. We need more content like this. BTW first I thought this was about fixing the engine buzz at certain RPMs :)

Yep they are a bit buzzy you get tingly fingers quite fast and a numb bum later but then i dont use it an incredible amount and I think you kind of get used to it....still a well priced, for Thailand, bike and the first four in that size that I was looking for.

Does yours buzz too?

Good post, but I must be lucky, I don't have that problem with mine

Yes I dont think it affects them all but is yours the faired or unfaired version? I think its Faired only and possibly fixed at the factory you would think by now.

I don't own one but rode a CB650F for a week and something like 2000 km. Didn't notice that buzz from the instrument cluster. But there was a not so nice sound (apparently) from the exhaust valve.

It's sad to hear of these build issues on a Honda inline 4. Sure it's a 1st Gen bike, nut one expects more from Honda.

Perhaps it's Thai built Hondas, I remember seeing the CBR250 had big issues with rattles and noises, not sure about the CBR500 range, but now the Thai built CBR650 too.

Good job with the fix.

I havent had any problem with the bike except the buzz which is really a very minor if annoying issue, much worse was the "theyre all like this" response from the local Big Wing, unlike the the Rama 9 crowd who were way more co-operative and asked me if i wanted them to call the local one to explain how to fix it.........in the end it was a pretty simple fix.

The finish is pretty good and everything does what it should on mine .
