CHIANG MAI:-- A Thai man who told police he wanted to make 'his own exciting videos' was caught taking upskirt pictures in a Big C store.

He was fined 5,000 baht then released, reports Daily News.

The Lamphun resident was seen positioning his mobile phone in a shopping basket and recording female shoppers dressed in skirts.

Ten of his movies were found recorded on his Samsung 1 device.

Security at the Big C Extra store in downtown Chiang Mai called in police after they cornered Apichart (an assumed name), 36, of Wiang Nong Long, Lamphun province.

They said they had observed the man positioning his phone in a basket then placing that near the legs of shoppers - his victims were both students and working age women. His phone was seen to be in recording mode.

Apichart told police that prior to this occasion he had only ever looked at clips sent to him by others. Now he wanted to be excited by making his own, he added.

Mae Ping police fined him 5,000 baht, put the offence on his record then let him go.

It's been said that, in the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes. Social networking has pushed people to get their 15 min. regardless of the consequences or the act that gains such fame.

This says it all... 'he wanted to make 'his own exciting videos'

This is no isolated case and it is not confined to Big C Chiang Mai , those who know the H.K. MTR there are signs " Taking Photo's Prohibited " for this very reason, one enterprising guy had one built into his shoe and the railway police seen him on cctv walking in a strange way and standing on escalators near females in a strange stance , this guy got more than a 5 grand Baht fine, he did time, Regardless of the heavy penalty this is still a frequent event on the MTR.....................................coffee1.gif

5000 baht fine and released?! Wow! Seems like charges should be filed and a little time in a monkey house so he can learn a bigger lesson.

So tell us where have you posted them? Any in the Combat mode ?

Samsung 1? Amateur!

Apparently this man boy didn't realize up skirt videos return over 100,000 results when searched.

(As my friend told me, anyway)

Are you really sure that such laws are in place to prevent the occasional pervert from taking upskirt shots? After all, they're going to to do it in a surreptitious manner anyway, and if they get caught, the behaviour is already illegal under existing 'reasonable privacy' laws in most places. I thought these laws/rules are intended to prevent terrorists from scouting potential targets ...

Only costs 5000 baht to violate the modesty of women. God knows how many other videos he's shot, stored and uploaded before this, yet he's let go, just like that.

"Violate the modesty of women" I like that Nancy. I think it's important to completely exaggerate the severity of a crime. 5,000 Baht for a video of some underpants? Seems a touch expensive to me. There's a huge difference between this and something like revenge porn. Revenge porn is calculate to humiliate and degrade - it does "violate the modesty of women". Pictures of someone's pants, on the other hand, may titillate but they certainly don't humiliate or degrade.

I don't understand this particular thrill but it's harmless and 5,000 Baht seems completely proportional to the damage done. It enables those who do things that truly are serious to be punished appropriately too. Otherwise by the time we got to "man gets caught groping someone without permission on a train" we'd be sending them to the gallows.

Most Thai women wear shorts under a skirt, don't they

Considered a Sex offender in the USA

Caught taking a leak at the side of a road will also label you a sex offender in the USA. Sad but true....

Only if your a male.

Wow. How exciting it must be to look up a girls skirt just so you can see her shorts.

Yes it is not a fetish exclusive to Asia But there are websites that specialise in such activities that tend to be predominantly of Japanese and Chinese origin. If this is something that people find exciting then they really have very little imagination.

Charges were made, that is how he came to be fined 5,000 baht and how he now has a criminal record. There are many offences that can be dealt with legally without having to go to court.

Yeah.....the last time a Thai girl went out in public without a pair of shorts over a pair of panties was in the 90's........Last week I was taking my gf to the mall and she had on an oversized shirt and converse shoes....

it looked like she forgot her pants. Im still laughing.......

The US abandoned common sense long ago.

By goodness, since when did MY name come up in this thread. I haven't put my 2 cents in on this issue. In case you didn't notice,

you're responding to a post from someone named "mesterm", Good god, SiemReaper,I have half a mind to report you to the mods.

But, since you pulled me into this conversation, I think 5000 baht is just about right for his little "experiment". Don't people

make money posting these childish videos on-line? If not the idiots who make them, then the perverts who run the websites?

Different strokes for different folks.

Removing a Thai woman's skirt...is one of the main lures of tourists...

Guess this guy was not willing to pay for a personal fashion show...

Apologies, brain freeze moment I guess.

The only time to report the reaper to the mods is if he tries to get a photograph of your underpants Nancy.....

Mind you, better not to mess with the reaper......

Think positive! Without hope, mankind is doomed. There is always the eternal hope that she is not wearing anything underneath her skirt.
