Water filter advice needed.

I also have send a link to my (former) supplier of Filters, that from now on I will not buy anymore from them.

For drinking water and my salt water fish tanks I use the following.

1. The water goes from the main supply to a fiber holding tank

2. After leaving the tank it passes through two sediment filters

3. It then heads to the RO filter whare another sediment filter is first in line.

For the domestic water to my house ( non drinking) I use a different filtration system.

Our situation is now like this.

We have Village Water and Well Water

Both flow (with separate HDPE pipes) through separate sediment Filters. (The Sediment Filter I posted earlier is the one for the Village Water. Trust me, the Well Water filter is a lot cleaner then that Filter I showed) in to an Underground Holding tank and a separate Tank for supplying our garden with water.

At the moment we ONLY use WELL Water and we have turned off the Village Water Supply because it is just to dirty/

What we are going to do is. (When the Carbon and Resin Filters get delivered and the concrete space is in place)

Both Village and Well water still flow through their separate sediment filters to a Resin and Carbon Filter system (Stainless steel) but before they reach those Tanks there will be another 20" sediment filter in place. This "clean" water will then only be used for the house (so it flows into our Underground tank) and not to the tank that irrigates the garden.

This clean water will only be used for showers, toilet and the washing machine etc.

Drinking water, we buy 2000 Liters (stored in DOS Foodsafe Tanks) for 480 THB..

A bit offtopic this, but how do much you pay for Resin and Carbon per KG ?

At HomePro, Resin was for sale at 135 THB a KG.

I have recently fit a 5 stage filter to my water supply, it looks the same as the cascade, but under another brand name. I fitted it about a month ago but have noticed the white primary filter becoming very yellow.

If it's plumbed correctly, the primary filter should be your sediment cartridge. If this is a ceramic one, it can be cleaned a few times before it needs replacing. Yellowing indicates your supply water isn't too clean.

Has anyone heard of a water company called Lux, they called yesterday selling these filters, aparrantly the sand in them comes from the Netherlands. My water supply was extremely dirty, so we went ahead and had it installed. The guy that fitted it showed me samples of water before and after, in the before the water was green and even had some sort of leech in it, the after was pristine. We have one months 'free trial' and pay 3000 baht the first month and then 1000+ baht for 11 months. Does this seem a fair price? Sorry about the image being on its side, but no matter what I do it still comes out that way.

This is the same basic concept as what I use - mine is just a little bigger. So long as you remember to backwash it regularly enough (somewhere between daily and weekly depending on mains quality), it should keep on doing a good job for years to come. 14K Baht all up over 11 months obviously more expensive than just buying it outright though.

The only thing I added was a carbon filter after the sand filter - which needs replacing every 5-6 months.

I bought a slightly smaller version than yours (about 4' tall) for my father's house (very light water usage) and it cost 6xxx Baht + extra for fittings/valves - but I fitted it as a DIY. I don't recall them claiming imported sand though

Using Windows 10?

Windows 10 has problems with orientation of pictures, pictures in portrait orientation look OK in Windows but come up wrong when uploaded to other applications/forums. If you open the picture in e.g. Paint and then save it again from there (without altering the picture), the picture will then appear correctly when uploaded.

Sorry, I have no experience with the company you mention but I doubt that it matters where the sand comes from.
