Severe drought persists in many provinces

NAKHON SI THAMMARAT, 16 May 2016 (NNT) – Nakhon Si Thammarat province is urgently pumping water for tap water production following severe drought. In Nakhon Sawan, cucumber cultivation is seriously affected by drought.

Cucumber farms in Mueang district, Nakhon Sawan, are in dire need of water. A cucumber farmer there said if there was no crop yield during these two weeks, she had to replace cucumbers on the farm with other crops.

In Chiang Mai, more than 200 people, army officers, officers from the Doi Suthep-Pui National Park and volunteers worked together in removing sand deposits and repairing dykes on streams in the national park to revive the forests.

In Nakhon Si Thammarat, pumps and large pipes were installed at a water source in Tambon Tha Ngew to pump water for the municipality area. Army officers were sent there to provide water for the residents.

Spare a thought for India , there's 300 million without water , however that isn't going to make our water supply at home any more pleasant tomorrow, there has been a great deal written on this subject and if nobody is listening or no 25 year plans in place dum dee dum ........................coffee1.gif

In Nakhon Sawan we got nice rain yesterday and the day before. I hope that helped the cucumber farmers. The story was probably written before the rain fell here. Today is not nearly as hot as it's been the last six weeks. I've been living in Thailand 34 years and this was the worst hot season I've experienced so far. In fact, the last three years have been very bad. Better than snow and ice, though.
