No replies as yet.
Just wanted to get a fresh one out as last post was over 6 months ago.

Here's a hint. If you ask, "Is there any metal detecting in Thailand?", you'll get very little here on TVF.

Ya gotta say "I bought a metal detector and, swear to God, there's no place to use it anywhere in Thailand".

They'll be crawling out of the woodwork to call you an idiot and disagree with you. It won't be pleasant, but the information will be good...

I have seen people doing it over the years. Knew an American that started over twenty years ago and found hundreds of amulets and rings....even the old rolled coins they used here like a hundred or so years ago....

Hi!

Does any one have a connection or any leads on the gold prospectors in the north of Thailand, please?
I am aware that westerners oversee the operation but Thais do the prospecting.
Trying to find some information about this.

I'm trying to teach my wife to use a vary basic metal detector, and although I love her to bits, and I have lots of patience, it's like trying to teach a fish to ride a bicycle.  She just can't grasp the basic concepts.  

Has anyone seen a Thai language site which she may find helpful. Found nothing on Youtube.

I looked at some prices for one in thailand way too expensive due to import duties. Aliexpress has copies of the garrett models that are supposed to be pretty good quality from reviews and decent prices. I think I will just have a friend bring one over from the states when he comes next time. www.thaimetaldetectors is a dead website nothing new on there for a long time and their product prices are a joke.

I own a Garrett I brought with me some years ago . Much cheaper to just buy in the US or EU and bring it with you on the plane.  Just been using  it on the beaches when I had some time.   

 

All you can expect to find here is baht coins and trash , maybe jewelry  if it is your lucky day .
