Hi.

Has any one been to Dream World Bangkok?

Is it any good? Is it worth the trip from Samui to take the kids. And how far is it from the new airport. I see it is near Don Muang.

Thanks :o:D:D

:D I wouldn't say it was worth taking a trip from Samui for. It is an aging theme park for want of a better expression. We went about 2 years ago and I doubt we would return. You really have to fight to get Thai entry prices :o - driving licence, ATM card and photocopy of work permit necessary :D . I would suggest that if you do go, don't do what we did which was buy an entry ticket that allowed access to all rides, rahter pay when you see the one you fancy. Also, don't bother with Iceland or whatever it calls itself. Snow? it resembles the mush you get when you defrost the freezer!

Hope that sets you on the right path :D

I have been many times, as there isn't a lot of amusement parks to take kids in and around Bangkok. No, it isn't worth coming from Samui, unless you are going to Bangkok for something else. It is located far from the new airport (it's not too far from the old airport).

My kid still enjoys it, and she has been to Disneyland in Calif. and Eurodisney near Paris, but don't go expecting it to be anywhere near these places. However, it is loads better than its competitors in Bangkok. It's all relative.

Thanks . I was thinking of taking advantage of the Air Asia sale early next year. My wifes Thai kids would not have been anywhere like that so would enjoy.

Please note that as with most amusement parks, various rides have minimum height restrictions. My kid loves the Grand Canyon ride (I think you have to be 120 cm on that one). It's fun, but everyone gets wet.

Also, and it has been included on another thread about two weeks ago, there always is questions on maintenance at amusement parks in Thailand. For example, we never go on any roller coasters, or anything that looks like it could be dangerous. Dream World seems to be better maintained than Siam Park (really run down), but there are no promises, of course.

Have fun.

I've been there with my kids (3 and 5) a few times...they love it. They especially like Snow World (or whatever it's called)...they've never experienced that temperature and like to chuck the 'snow' balls at me. If your kids are older then they can try the toboggan run - it's quite fast.

It's not exactly Disney World but as good as it gets in Thailand (so far).

Can't say I had the same problem I took my two kids and 3 of his mates and they simply asked me if I lived here or not then charged me Thai price.

It is a bit aged now but its still fun for the kids, plenty to keep them occuoied for a day for sure.

My kid loves snowtown. She has played in the real thing in the US, but everytime we go to Dream World, she has to go to Snowtown. One word of caution. If you are going to go on the Grand Canyon ride (at the far end of the park), go to Snowtown first. The Grand Canyon ride will get your kid wet (guaranteed), and you don't want to then take them to Snowtown.

I have a Thai driver's license and just show that at the entrance to get the local price.
